Forums - Nintendo - Zelda: Breath of the Wild discussion thread

I will continue to be unhappy about Nintendo's decision to NOT bring this to Wii U as the last big "hurrah" title in late 2016, as should be happening. That's a shitty move, regardless of the decision making behind it.

But, having said that, while I don't LOVE the art style (and is it me or did it originally seem more colorful than this demo looked?), otherwise, so long as there isn't some super-secret gimmick feature that they're hiding from us to ruin it somehow, I think this Zelda sounds pretty awesome.

Personally, my fav. part of Zelda games has always been roaming around and exploring the world, not so much the dungeons. So if this is a game with a MASSIVE world, that focuses heavily on exploring, and not dungeons, AND they finally threw in the MANUAL JUMPING ability that I've been saying Zelda should have for years (in 3D), then even though I will continue to dislike Nintendo's scheduling decisions, this is a game I'm looking forward to.

Everything about Breath of the Wild looks amazing, I'm so happy with it!

The guys at the staff weren't joking around when they said they were going to change the conventions. You seriously really cannot apply the "it's a Zelda game, it can't be that bad" argument anymore regarding if the title it's going to be worth the money or not, Nintendo is taking big risks with this.

But gameplay is not the only thing that reflects the transition of the series to freedom. The visuals and the music help a lot to make this game to feel like an access to liberty and "open air". Would be nice if the story follows similar themes.

My only concerns so far are the presumably emptiness, the appreciable laziness on the design of these "mini-dungeons", the lack of puzzles (didn't see many on the Treehouse footage) and... well, that's about it. Probably the frame rate on the Wii U version.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

So after 2 years of no footage after the Game Awards 2014 and being delayed twice, let me ask you guys something...
Did this all make it worth the wait? The long, agonizing wait for more info?

Glorious improvement over Twilight Princess.

I still don't think the delays or the year and a half of radio silence were justified.

As spectacular as it looks, it doesn't look like anything that couldn't be made in 4 years, considering plenty of other big productions have been completed in 2-3 years. And keeping us in the dark for 18 months was totally uncalled for.

Also I'm surprised Pavolink hasn't made a thread about Aonuma probably lying when he says there'll be no differences between Wii U and NX versions.

That's not what he said. He said that both versions will be the "same" experience in the sense that both will have access to the same content. Of course one will look better or have a better controller, but it is going to be the same game.

I doubt they are developing exclusive content to the NX version.

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Hey all, i'm just jumping in to let you know that since the Zelda threads are starting to get a bit spammy, we're going to start locking the fluffier ones that pop up, and directing them to this thread. We'll leave the current ones, but given how many there already are (and that this thread exists), i think now's a good time to start doing this.

I'm posting this here so i can link it to any threads that might pop up and want an explanation, and so that anyone present who was considering making a thread about a particularly pleasant shade of green they saw on a tree, knows they should keep that discussion here :p

It's pretty obvious but I think the Old Man is going to be the like the owl in Ocarina of Time. I also wonder what the Breath of the Wild title can mean besides the fact that this game has more scenic wild life than the previous 3D Zelda titles. Previous subtitles refer to an important item or a person and this game's subtitle matches the latter more.

This game is like eye sex
