Forums - Gaming - (Updated now with poll) E3: Zelda Breath of the Wild Vs Horizon Zero Dawn = which one has the "wow factor"?

Which one had the biggest "WOW! Factor"?

Zelda 273 58.84%

Horizon 179 38.58%

None 12 2.59%

Total:464

Imo horizon is a generation ahead. Not just in terms of graphics but in terms of gameplay. Zelda seems to have a lot of really old mechanics. I'd expect more from a top series this gen. Not interested in that game at all.

Horizon easy win for me.

You must be completley blind if you think the game looked dead, but I think you have already proven that by not seeing how obviously based on the Ghibli artstyle it is.

Who in their right mind thinks that this:

looks anything like this:

I understand that you want to say that the game looks good but not only does it not look Studio Ghibli-good but I think it looks bland and lacks colour.

you literally picked like the worst screenshot you could find for comparison.

the views of the sky and mountains and other landscape in the background did come off Studio Ghibli esque, which was deliberate by Nintendo.

also apparently the Treehouse stream came out poor quailty, I've seen some videos of TV screens at E3 showing Zelda and they look wayyy more vibrant. not sure why the Treehouse stream came out unclear

old mechanics? what does that even mean? the majority of game mechanics used in practically EVERY genre (adventure, platforming, horror) have been mostly the same for the past 20 years

we have slight changes with things like inventories or crafting in adventure games, updates in aiming in FPS's, etc. - but the core fundamentals will be the same

and you suggesting that Zelda should play dramatically differently now than it did in like 97 with Ocarina is just silly. what, should Pokemon radically update its gameplay mechanics too since you're bored? should the game of blackjack or poker be changed too?

my point is that is an extremely weak argument. there are only so many game mechanics that you can introduce.

Horizon has nothing revolutionary new- protagonist kills robots for parts to craft things. this has been around for decades

Zelda doesn't wow me or impress me but it looks fun. Horizon looks more impressive graphically but at this point I'm numb to being impressed graphically after Uncharted 4.

You bring up pokemon but I've an issue with thet too.  It's not evolved nearly enough since I used to play it 15 years ago.

I'm at the euros and about to sleep so I'll not be able to go into detail for another 10 days.  Ttyl

Not really, watch this trailer at full quality, the low quality of the stream made the game look a bit washed, but here you can see the color is more vibrant.

You can see that here too:

I watched the trailer. Doesn't look like a studio ghibli film. I would say it's more like the new Voltron cartoon but with less vivid colours.

Yeah well, at this point I think there is just no sense to argue with you, is just the same always when it comes to Nintendo, a constant and completley irrational downplay and a chronic blindness to anything good the company does no matter how obvious it is. Truly a lost cause.

I can't really understand all the wow about the trailer. Then again considering which forum we're on it's understandable. They showed us a poorly rendered empty open world with "new" gameplay mechanics from the stone age. It looks good but I cannot see any WOW in that trailer.

Comparing it with the Horizon gameplay trailer is actually a pretty bad insult.

Goodnightmoon is probably the only one that thinks that. It looks nothing like it.

What the hell are you talking about, there is tons of people saying the same, is painfully obvious, not my fault if you are unable to see the obvious, since the very first trailer of zelda it was very clear this is very Ghibli style, you are just jumping of the downplay badwadagon wich is sopmething you just adore when it comes to Nintendo.

You need to be completely blind to not see the Ghibli influences in this:

Painfully blind or painfully biased that is.

Today has not been a good day for some people. Zelda fans should be happy for the game we will play in months, something that sadly not everyone will have the pleasure to exprience
