old mechanics? what does that even mean? the majority of game mechanics used in practically EVERY genre (adventure, platforming, horror) have been mostly the same for the past 20 years we have slight changes with things like inventories or crafting in adventure games, updates in aiming in FPS's, etc. - but the core fundamentals will be the same and you suggesting that Zelda should play dramatically differently now than it did in like 97 with Ocarina is just silly. what, should Pokemon radically update its gameplay mechanics too since you're bored? should the game of blackjack or poker be changed too? my point is that is an extremely weak argument. there are only so many game mechanics that you can introduce. Horizon has nothing revolutionary new- protagonist kills robots for parts to craft things. this has been around for decades |
You bring up pokemon but I've an issue with thet too. It's not evolved nearly enough since I used to play it 15 years ago.
I'm at the euros and about to sleep so I'll not be able to go into detail for another 10 days. Ttyl
