Well the strategy is potentially lose sales now but keep people interested in the improved model.
Scorpio is the long term future of X1, the X1 S is short term.

I doubt sony are going to be okay falling a half a generation behind in power for the next 3-4 years....
I also believe that mS announced Scorpio to kill the ps4 and this gen early.... y would anyone invest on current gen when nsxgen is coming next year with the Scorpio?t He Scorpi upgrde isn't a small jump, it is a generational leap (6tfLOPS and 16gb of ram folks), they did it with the Xbox 360 in 2005, killed the Xbox which released in 2001, and ended the ps2 gen early.....

This is why I like the alterantive, keep price at $399, trade time for power and just match it, you know if it makes financial sense. Microsoft just gave them time to think... Why?

They should tho.... either that or up the specs to 6tflops and 16gb of ram, because they will not compete with the Xbox Scorpio in power, it'll almost be like wii-x360 in difference

That could end up costly if Sony decides to sell at around break even points.
Anyways price wars are good for us consumers. MS will lose tons of $ though, on the Scorpio then.

Oh damn good point they did do this before when things wern't working out. I always thought evenly matched = long generation last time around. This is to force Sony make a new console. They reckon drawing sales away to next year is worth it hit them this year, because it will hit Sony harder and mess up NEO VR etc long term plans. Makes sense. It's dramatic sony need to something dramatic, I still like the scrap NEo announce PS5 around Scorpio lauch plan. Knock it back at them if they try to steal you thunder, wait no those two cancel out
