the ability to do whatever the fuck they want. I live in the US. I cant even fathom the concept of some unelected foriegn body making decisions for my country. It would be hypocritical for me to expect another country to do the same unless they choose to. |
What exactly was the EU preventing them from doing before because it seems to me they were doing "whatever the fuck they wanted" before hand. They didn't even adopt the Euro currency.
EU was formed because it makes sense to have one more singular entity instead of like 20 different little countries all within 90 minutes flying time of each other.
Almost like a united group of ... states ... you might say. Gee, what a bizarre concept.

That was one of the points of leaving, some of our laws were being made in another country by un elected officials

A lot of people were saying other countries will follow the UK exist and the union will be no more. But seeing the short-term effects may scare people off voting to leave... |
Sure but we don't know, strangely what we know is Northern Ireland wants a referendum to leave UK and Scotland changed from Will their be a new referendum to When will the referendum be. Btw hate the fact that Wilders and Le Pen are loving this.

The only real thing that had an actual impact on our society may have been the odd rules and regulations EU comes up with, like determining how much power a vacuum cleaner can use and other crap like that. Yet our borders were ours to control, our currency was ours and the immigration was fine (as EU immigrants mostly wanted to be here to work and contributed to the ecommony).
Now watch as the next PM has to do a deal to trade with the EU and it comes with the Freedom of Movement act.
Hmm, pie.

Yeah it pretty much seems like the UK was getting basically any/all benefit of being in the EU, without actually basically any of the downsides. They didn't even pay for any of the Greek debt stuff.

yea states... except these states are made up of different nations that have had a national identies for centuries and all how their own national interest. That sounds like as good of an idea arbitrarily drawing borders in Africa after WW2. I mean by this logic we should just make the Dominican Republic a state in the US.
The ability to control who comes into your country is a big deal. Even been to Japan? When you arrive they want to see your return ticket. You can only go their to live if you are actually worth something. You cant be an economic parasite and expect them to just let you move there.
psn- tokila

The UK already had pretty large scale control over who was coming into their borders, case in point they basically took no one in from Syria last year.
The EU makes sense in a modern capitalist society where no one wants to have 15 freaking currencies to deal with when doing business in Europe. I don't want to deal with some rinky dink little Denmark or some shit as an investor.
Travelling through Europe is still a bit of a pain in the ass, when you are in the UK you have to have pounds, then in Europe it's the Euro, but you take a train ride if you're in Switzerland then you need Francs, etc. etc. etc. it must've straight up sucked balls before the EU.

Yeah, and I bet those who voted out think we did pay for their debt. Fed lies by Fucktage.

That's the only point of voting out that made sense but the issue came when we elected MEPs who were meant to oversee this stuff and the idiots in this country elected UKIP people who didn't even show up or abstained from voting on this and that affected the UK. They were meant to present us and stand for us, not just insuly other MEPs and be there as seat filler. Keep in mind they were getting paid to not do their jobs too. Should have been fired long ago.
Hmm, pie.
