great news for PS4.

the gap between the PS4 and XB1 is really going to start to grow now.

Being the leader in a dying market is hardly a good thing. What is good though, is that Sony seem to have identified this and are probably making efforts to secure their future in a world without regular console cycles.

Why does the PS4 have to carry the industry alone?!

Dying market for others maybe, not for Sony lol. They're expecting to make $1.2 billion profit from gaming this FY. And they seem to be the only one who look 2 steps ahead to a post console world, if there ever will be one, with PS Now. That thing is expanding their businnes to virtually everything with an internet connection. What does Nintendo and MS have to answer that? Nothing. MS has a half baked strategy to bring their Xbox business to PC which itself is a dying medium, and Nintendo is still thinking they can revolutionize gaming with their gimmicks but makes them actually go further down the path of irrelevancy. Sony is owning the traditional market, will own the streaming market, pray they do not enter the mobile market for they might own that too.

Ps4 will keep growing in the next years, price cut to 249e or 299e, premium model at 449e or 399e, Gran Turismo, Cod, BF, GTA, RdR etc etc... Huge brand etc etc...

Xbox One will keep selling worse unless they introduce a Slim Version at 249e for the rest of the generation and make it 199e even, introduce Xbox One Premium at 449e with super power like Neo or better to gain some milion hardcore fans and they might catch 360 or outsell it.

Wii U is dead and should retire soon, same for 3DS, NX should replace them and i dont know what to say about it, i think it will be a huge flop since Nintendo is so distant from gamers and 3rd parties so we shall wait and see.

360 has already been discontinued and Ps3 will be aswell.

It's mostly due to the WiiU underperforming I think. The Wii sold a lot to a new customer base which has not been around this generation.

Well said.

And Sony's gaming profits aren't going to stop there.  The only way is up... BABY!

Wii U drop is huge, but expected given the lineup. XB1 drop isn't all that surprising for the same reason. Not to say that Sony has blown any doors off with their offerings, but at least there is some consistency in an exclusive release schedule through the year there.

When Splatoon launched last year ? Wii U will have e big drop YOY without a game like Splatoon.

That's exactly my point.  What has launched this year to keep the sales up from last year?  If Wii U was still pumping out quality titles in 2016, the drop wouldn't be as huge.

Declining =/= dying

Either way, it's a helluva lot better to be the leader in a declining or dying market than to be the runner-up or loser...
