Seems like Sony was wise to abandon the handheld business and focus on thier profitable console.

Can they do it? Honestly speaking, can Nintendo charge for online? Even with the same service offered (identical), I don't know if Nintendo will get away with it, like Sony has.

They might if they focus on makeing their party games online, Splatoon, Mario Karts ect.
Same with Mario 3D world, with online co op, ect.
Even then, if they just made a easy to develope console, powerfull enough, and made sure everything was equal to the other two in terms of features.
They could have 3rd party shooters doing the heavy lifting, makeing people willing to pay for it.

Honestly as Nintendo/Sony fan, I would be okay with it, but I don't know about the rest, but I think the two fanbases are so diferent at times.

| kowenicki said: Are people just ignoring the fact that they now charge for online as THE major reason for proper profits? The PS2 era shows perfectly that even when hardware beasts and software sells massively that they alone can never generate huge profits. Gaming had to become a service with repeat income. Charging for online is the start. Wake up. |
Nintendo proved that theory wrong. It's not easy but it's possible.

Lol I remember our little debate about their stock a few years back, no it wasn't you who called the rock bottom, it was me. And uh let's not talk about your Nokia predictions and how they would come back. Also nothing wrong with proclaiming that Kaz is the lord! |
So what you're saying is neither of you have the track record of Kerotan the "self proclaimed" visionary? Well I guess not many do :)
I wonder when PS Vue will make it over to Europe. Anyone have any idea how well PSNow is performing?

There were three ravens sat on a tree / They were as blacke as they might be / The one of them said to his mate, Where shall we our breakfast take?

No idea but they haven't launch ps now in most of Europe yet, nevermind the world. It will be a long time before its launched properly WW. In all likelihood the PS5 will be released before the thing goes proper mainstream. It's an investment in the future
