Why not just mix the Resident Evil 5 gameplay with the classic mansion/Raccoon City design? I'm not sure I'd like to go back to tank controls and having to carry keys in my inventory that weight as much as a shotgun, to be honest.

Did you play the RE5 DLC on spencer's mansion? I thought that one was pretty good version of survival horror.

I think the key to this is not the tank controls, but narrow locations. You feel the fear of beeing trapped/helpless when something jumps you.

I agree, they should rather make it like clock tower or haunting ground, remove the guns completley. You cant make it both ways tbh

I don't want them to remove guns at all. I don't know if you played corpse party blood drive, but i found it irritating that i could pretty much only be harrased by the ghosts all the time. I want to be able to turn around and face my fear eventually. It's not fun to be constantly on the run. It's a waste of time.

The guns are not the issue. The problem was that after 4 RE just comoletely lost its way. I dont get whats up with devs, its super easy to make a horror/survival game and leave the player in a constant state of dread.

  • let there be weapons, but limit ammo heavily.
  • dont limit how much you can carry, hell even allow the player choose to carry a bag with all the ammo and weapons you can manage, but greatly reduce the players nobility based on how much stuff you're carrying.
  • through game design, force the player into situations where he would have to let go of that speef limiting bag, and be firced to pick only a few items just to make it yhrough certain sections of the game.
  • Force the player to get creatinve and craft weapons and items with heavy focus on material management.
  • Take out all that super human nonsense.
Thats it. Do that and you have a great game on your hands. And no need to make it a city or all that open world nonsense. It can be a small island, or even a large mansion. The great games of old weren't long cause it loterally woulf take you 10 minuyes to walk from one area to the next. They were long because of how hard they were and how much time we needed to spend to "git gud".
I can remember how my save files were back then, save game play time for RE1/2 averaged under 3hrs. But real world time was like 3 days because of how many times we would die and load the last save point.
Devs just really need to stop dumbing down games.

Tch! I'll believe it when I see it!

Which console is it exclusive to? Or are they actually publishing something themselves, for once?

Don't they say RE is going back to its roots EVERY SINGLE GAME after 4?.....

Really looking foward to this game, hopefully it won't disappoint.

Looking forward to it. You'd imagine that they've taken a good, long look at how popular the likes of The Last of Us, Outlast, Amnesia, PT, Alien Isolation and SOMA have all been.

Hell, even the way that the RE Remakes have been received could have influenced them.

If rumors are true, we could be looking at something special.

Roots? But RE was never horror, tense or scary
Hope they are "lying" again and we get another action masterpiece like RE6

Do you know what this all sounds like? It sounds like The Evil Within. I cant recall people saying it was the revival of survival horror.
