Forums - Gaming - Petition: Remove Uncharted 4 Washington Post Review from Metacritic

LOL the absurdness of this whole situation... Where did we go wrong? When did gaming become all about the numbers (resolution, frame rate, metacritic score)? Nintendo, please save us!

Yes, the review is a joke and the score should not have made such an impact. That being said, this 1 point is not going to make or break Naughty Dog and Uncharted. It will still get GOTY/GOAT awards. Everyone knows how amazing a developer they are and how much a masterpiece this game is. Get over it. The whiniest and most self-entitled generation ever. Gracious.

Other people are in this thread and sharing a similar thought about this they didn't made a thread or petition so I can make a comment on this subject.

Complain? It seems you and others are complaining about the 4/10 score so I wouldn't be saying I am complaining if I were you.

Make a comment? Sure. Your "comment" though was a demand of others - while at the same time saying you didn't want to hear about it. It very much comes off as a "do as I say, not as I do" comment. Something similiar to holding your hands over your ears going "I can't hear you".

I was assuming you are one of the people that didn't read the thread before "jumping into the fray". Thanks for answering that though, and proving you haven't read the thread.

My issue isn't the 4 out of 10. My issue is HOW it got a 4 out of 10. One article gives it a 4 out of 4. Another gives NO score. So where did the 10 come from?

I already posted that if the second article changed it to include "4 out of 10" at the bottom - I would have no issue.  Either metacritic assumed out of 10 - and should fix it, or someone from the washington post told them out of 10 - and they should own up to it.

So reading it means that it deserves to be removed from metacritic? It should remain there regardless.

Proud to be a Californian.

If someone who had never played the game wrote a bogus review giving it a 10/10 would there be a petition to remove that score as well?

After all, you don't care that this guy gave it a 4/10, you only care about the validity of the review, right?

Hypocrisy at it's finest.

How are you going to celebrate when it hits 5000!?

I would imagine Naughty Dog is going to be inviting you to the studio where you will be presented with a golden copy of Uncharted 4 along with beautiful naked women and a mountain of cash!

I can't even begin tell you how excited I am for when the review is removed and the score goes from 93 back to 94!!!

The thought of it send shivers down my spine!

From myself and my family, seriously, thank you so much for all your hard work.  This is a defining moment for our generation!

Keep up the great work and God bless you!

I would definitely not turn down an offer like that, and I believe neither would you ;) Am I right or am I right  ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

If the point was that the score shouldn't have been counted on MC because it had no score or the other review exists then the petition would touch more on that instead of attacking the writer so hard for his opinions.

Wow this is sad. Get over it. Many past great games had worse reviews which were undeserving yet the gamers went on with it. To petition this review would mean every poor or negative review on a great game needs to be taken off. Instead of petitioning on UC4 4/10 review, you should be petitioning for all games that were treated unfairly, like Forza Horizon 2's 2/10.

Gaming reviews are so easy these days. Getting an 8 or 9 isn't even hard. You can be an Indie Dev and get 10s. The movie industry knows how to reviews movies. Be great full that UC4 even sits on its score because if this was the movie industry it would be sitting on many 5s and 6s.

Man, this is embarrassing.

I'm all for cleaning up the standards, journalistic and ethical, of video game publications and sites, but this attempt to adjust the score of a single game is not the answer. And let's all be honest with ourselves: the petitioner is upset his favorite game got knocked down a peg. This isn't about getting things right. It's about a low-ball score for a PlayStation exclusive. After all, the author can only justify a score as low as 8, and he wants to respect the developers for their "time and money." He definitely seems more pre-occupied with the "flawless reputation of the game" than he does any kind of truth-seeking.

Aggregate sites like Metacritic and video game journalism in general are flawed, yes, but so are consumer expectations. We fight tooth and nail to secure the best coverage for OUR games, but leave "rival" games in the dust. We champion freedom of expression, as long as it means high scores. And we refuse to allow critics to use a full rating scale. WE are part of the Metacritic problem, and petitions like this show why.

It is embarassing indeed. People have been making assumptions that this is about the score of a ps exclusive, when there have been several times a reviewer gave a low score to a ps exclusive but only the first time there was a strong petition to remove a review. Why do you think that is?

Why are people so adamant at comparing apples with oranges?

Almost 5000 sig, impressive. It will go to 10,000 tomorrow.

Yeah, let's make imaginary scenarios and accuse people of something they haven't done in that imaginary scenario.

MC said that WP gave them a score. Unless MC is lying of course...
