There are 5 difficulty options, i'm too young to die(easy), hurt me plently(normal), ultra-violence(hard), nightmare(super hard) & of course ultra-nightmare(ultra hard).

And yes, i started with on higher than normal as a warm up then the one harder, man, it was intense though... so, about the ultra-nightmare it's locked unless you have to beat the game any difficulty, beware.. ultra-nightmare has no checkpoints, that's right, you die... you will start over again from the beginning with no checkpoints anywhere where you died.

Holy poop, I can barely get through these campaigns on Normal and people are beating this game on extra hard. I feel such a noob! :-/

It reminds me a lot of Resistance 3 which took modern gameplay fluidity and combined it with the best of the old-school such as no 2 weapon limit, no ADS aiming, health packs, and some wacky weapons. Though Resistance 3 still had sprinting it also had a better story than Doom I think.

I'll pick it up during Black Friday. It will most likely be 50% off. Reason being, my backlog is killing me and Uncharted 4 just made it worse. Glad you enjoyed it man!

To be fair, they are radically different games.  Wolfenstein certainly doesn't have bad gameplay but its strength comes from it's characters and story (ironically, given it's a game about fighting SciFi Nazis).  DOOM is all about that speed, level design, pace, cathartic weapons.  

That and so far the new DOOM is running pretty damn well on PC, Wolfenstein had issues thanks to the same engine that was used with RAGE on PC. Low res visuals up close, textures popping in and out constantly, lacking in decent AA options and Vysnc not working properly along with full screen window borderless. DOOM definitely stomps all over TNO in terms of optimization and looks. 



Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

I love this new Doom ! I've a GTC 970 and it's super fluid. Gameplay is very nice and refreshing. Although it's hard, your life bar is always in the red. It radically changes the distance of engagement since you tend to be mid range/ close to the enemy for this juicy melee kills. Enemies use the verticality of the maps to their advantages. It's very cool.

Got the collectors edition. I think the game graphically looks great when you're inside the base,however outside looks like a late 360/ps3 game. Game play is great though. This is definitely ''DOOM'', unlike DOOM 3
