And very, VERY hyped.

No, it wasn't.

Yes, it was.

If you think Project Spark was "very hyped" then you are out of touch with the general gaming community. There wasn't much hype for it.

I'm not surprised. I thought it looked great when it was firt announced, but it released to hardly any fanfare. I actually had to go out of my way to even find out anything about the game shortly after it launched, which is unheard of for any newly released AAA game.

Can we still download it? Seems like MS is shutting their entire gaming business except for the couple big franchises.

To anyone who owns, or has played this game, this should be no surprise.

It just isn't good. Even worse, it never was able to build an online community.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

So, what happens to Team Dakota? Do they shut down and just kick out all the developers, do they as a team keep developing games or do the remaining employees go to other Microsoft teams (if possible) like some already did in the past with Team Dakota shutting down?

Can't download it anymore. And yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if by 2020 no studios but Turn 10 Studios (Forza), 343 Industries (Halo), The Coalition (Gears of War) and Mojang (Minecraft) are owned by Microsoft with the rest being developed by 2nd party developers. Maybe Rare will still be around if Sea of Thieves does well.

Thats always been the case.

No risks whatsoever from their own studios. If a third party exclusive is a hit, they buy the rights of the game, dump the studio and create one based around that specific game.

When a game is not a HUGE hit, you can kiss bye bye that franchise.

Game was horrible and bland.

What happens in bizarro isn't relevant in our universe. I think people confuse interest with hype.

Anyhow, Project Spark was actually pretty cool. But I guess Roblox is similar and appears to be more robust in features.

Bottom line, both Sony and MS have clearly lost interest in online focused gaming. Sony sold SOE, MS cancelled Fable Legends. The bubble has popped inspite of some exceptions.
