And how many RPGs did you play last gen to make that statement? Did you play most of the PS line-up? Xenosaga, Suikoden, Wild Arms, Arc the Lad, Shin Megami Tensei, Romancing SaGa...etc?

I was actually somewhat disappointed after playing ToS because it was no where near that good.

Seems like you're new to the Internet.

Let me explain it to you. So for your information (FYI), imo means "In My Opinion".

Which should reveal the nonsense of your answer.

I asked those questions because I want to know if he only played GC RPGs or if he actually played a wide variety including non-GC RPGs before forming his opinion.  Most people I have seen claiming ToS is really good didn't actually play much of the PS2's RPG line-up.

Now little troll, go crawl back under your rock.

wow, that's quick, this will most likely be the best RPG out this gen so far.

You got good jokes.

*Ignore 360 RPGS: ON*

But I think ToS2 will be at least be competitive to Lost Odyssee and Blue Dragon. ToS was (imo) the best RPG last gen.

+ FF 10, 10-2, 12, DQ7, Skies of Arcadia, Baten Kaitos, KOTOR and Tales of the Abyss.

Edit: Of course I played the PS2: I like RPG's. But the most important part in an RPG is the story for me, and I really liked the plot twists in ToS. I liked the battle system as well. BTW Soriku has the same favorite last gen RPG and I'm sure he played more RPG's than I did.

Riot: You're joking right?
If you mean that PS360 is closer to watching a movie, I agree, but that has nothing to do with enjoying a good RPG.

Awesome can't wait for this game Tales of Symphonia for the gamecube and Phantasy Star Online Ep1-2 was the only RPG I played last generation.

I doubt it. Lost Odyssey is far and beyond what can be done on the Wii. We all know 360 and PS3 are on a whole different level than the Wii.

Only if graphics is 80% of your concern. For some games maybe, but to me, especially for this genre, graphics are at most 20%, and so the wii is on the same level. To me, game play (including loading times), and story are far more important than flash.

Sure it has some good reviews, but it also has:

Games Radar
If you’re patient with plot, love your amnesiac protagonists and get aroused at the thought of having to keep two saves so you can reroll a character if need be, Lost Odyssey has your name written all over it.

60
G4 TV
If you enjoy "Final Fantasy" and its ilk, Lost Odyssey will appeal. It’s not innovative and doesn’t take any chances, but there’s a lot of classic turn-based adventure just waiting for you in four long disks.

60
GameDaily
Once you discover the game's deeply flawed combat system and bland storyline, you'll question if it's a journey worth taking.

GameShark
Loving Lost Odyssey means being able to stand its technical instability, loading times, and traditional gameplay. Latching onto the unique ring system and its tightly-wound narrative can get you through the pain of these flaws--only to a certain extent.

GameSpy
We have immense respect for what Lost Odyssey tries to do: be a back-to-basics JRPG with modern technological trimmings on the 360. Unfortunately, it's less a celebration of what made older RPGs great and more a crude relic of their past.

Uh, no, they're not.

Seems like you're part of the people that believe that JRPG are FPS. JRPG being good is not defined by the number of polygons you see at any given time, not at all.

As such, Lost Odyssey is even the worst example of a JRPG to compare to Dawn of the New World (DNW), as Lost Odyssey was made to have mainly western appeal, while Tales of games are deeply japanese games.

PS3 and 360 sure are on a whole different level than the Wii: Wii is in heaven while 360/PS3 are lower than trash, at least in Japan.

If you were talking about FPS, I could agree that X game is far and beyond what can be done on the Wii, but given we're talking about JRPG, you're all wrong. That would be as stupid as saying that Lost Odyssey is far and beyond the PS2 era JRPG. Obviously it's not.

IMO, there are still no JRPG (not counting SRPG)  this gen that is better than last gen ones, for now (must be why I'm playing mainly last gen ones).

And a Tales of may be the first to achieve that, be it the 360 or the Wii one.

As for SRPG, I don't know if Disgaea 3 is better than PS2 Disgaeas, but it's confirmed FE Wii is better than FE GCN.

The story is quite important to me as well which is one of the things that bugged me in ToS.

I especially didn't like Raine and Genis' whole Half-Elf bit though. They'd been pretending to be full Elves for years and were doing a great job at it until you hit a certain point in the game, then everyone and their pet dog can point out that they're not full-blooded Elves.

It was almost like the writers started off with a story premise and then suddenly changed up somewhere in the middle to making the whole thing about Human/Elven racism.

PS:  I'm glad you didn't take my comment personally Benga.  I could never really insult the RPG taste of someone with a Fire Emblem avatar.

I like them both, but can't really say one is better than the other. Radiant Dawn has the seperate parties, which works very well, but in Path of Radiance I felt I had more connection with my party and levelling was more natural (since you all basically start at zero, there are a little too much overlevelled units at your disposal in RD). Also there were more badass weapons in PoR.

Yeah, it's funny how small things can really ruin an experience. I didn't have any trouble with that particular one.
In Radiant Dawn you all of a sudden have Eliyana in Ike's team, while just before she was in Micaiahs party without any explanation. That bothered me a lot.

What bothers me about Tales of Symphonia is that the characters often seem blurry and unfocussed. No idea why. Also, it is a bit too "kiddy" for my taste...

Otherwise, I really enjoy the game.
