WSJ: Animal Crossing mobile + Fire Emblem mobile both F2P

TOKYO—Nintendo Co.’s next two smartphone games will be free to download, the company’s partner said on Wednesday, increasing the likelihood that long-loved console game titles will rank high even in fiercely competitive app stores.

Tokyo-based DeNA Co., which develops and runs its own smartphone games, teamed up with Nintendo, the Kyoto-based videogame powerhouse, last year for the joint project. They released their first title, Miitomo, earlier this year, and are expected to produce four more by March 2017.

Wow I must have missed a memo! Didn't know Animal Crossing was coming to mobile, hopefully it's good and just like the handheld releases!

Its going to be more like a lite version than a full one(at least thats what all indicates), and that will aplly to both games, even though so far only animal crossing has been confirm to communicate to a handheld/console version.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

^ this.

Phone game + f2p is a no no.

Look at a game like Final Fantasy IX (9), it runs on iOS for phones and its a 1 time deal price and its yours.

Why dont developers for phones all follow this principal?

If you want to put Animal crossing on phones... do it right nintendo! full game, everything you expect from a full game, and a fixed price.

More money in F2P market, insanely more money. Plus mobile users do not dive in doves to pay to try a game.

"Free to download". Nintendo is using this term or "free to start", but it's not really a F2P. I guess we could get a lite version, and then buy maps in FE, for example.

:/ let's see how much they are p2w then...

Can't wait for the Fire Emblem game! Would be interesting if it expands the world of Fates...

Could be interesting, I could definitely see how AC would work with a F2P model.
