Forums - Gaming - Disney Infinity canceled, Disney stopping as video game publisher

Hmmm, dunno about selling the whole range though... some of the figures they picked really don't suit the solid plastic look that all the infinity toys have been molded to, say Sulley from Monsters Inc, I think he is one that just plain doesn't work in terms of looking like the movie figure and sadly he was the toy which shiped with the first version of the game.

Did he shave?

I'll admit the new Star Wars wave of Infinity figures really don't appeal to me the way Stitch and Zootopia ones do.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Less comp oh Amiibo and Skylanders.

How well is Lego Dimensions doing? I might see them in the same spot.

Should I feel bad for thinking the same? So, no one has answered me yet, they are  ceasing the production of figurines?

Well there is a tiny Delorean figure from that which is close to €50 here... I mean in terms of Lego there is maybe 12 blocks to create the actual car, can't imagine there are too many parents buying into that, Lego itself is expensive enough.

According to the DB here over the 5 ports of Lego Dimensions there is 2.4million units sold, also keep in mind that this is a title which has exactly 0 digital sales since you need to physically own a copy with the "portal" for the game to work, that isn't exactly record breaking but I guess it depends on how many figures get sold along with each copy of the game.

For comparisons sake, Disney infinity had 11m sales over all 3 versions of the game and the various consoles it has appeared on and Skylanders sitting at 23.4m but Skylanders does have versions of the game which are available digitally now, for portal owners and even superchargers has a PS4/X1 version which uses a virtual portal and figure set for people who want to go digital with it, wouldn't think it would be the popular choice, but it's still there to consider.

Yes everything associated with Disney Infinity is being discontinued games, figures and power discs.

This is great news for me. I'm a LEGO Dimensions supporter. I hope we'll see some Marvel and Star Wars LEGO minis for the game.

The real tragedy here is the closure of Avalanche Software. They were actually really talented.

....

Capcom should take care of Disney's ip!!

I wonder how much the last few will go for, my guess is in the hundreds.

Looks like the toys to life market is cratering. Too much plastic junk to ask people to buy over and over and over again.

Even with Amiibo I think this will be a problem going forward ... most of the major characters now have Amiibo toys (some with several), how many more can Nintendo push out.
