Isn't this the "normal" controler?

This is the most versatile control method that can play any game and is superior in FPS, RTS and many other popular genres. This is what Valve wanted to do with their handcontroller.

Wiimote + Nunchuk or PS Move are better than keyboard + Mouse for FPS.

People aren't Against subtle innovations which evolve the idea of the controller which is what Nintendo controls prior to the Wii had.

A $100 gimmick control which takes away buttons or ruins form factor is an issue though. When rumour of rolling shoulder buttons appeared everyone seemed on board with specific change.

Why'd you capitalize 'never' in the title?

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Well, by those standards, Duelshock 4 isn't normal either, it has a touchpad..

I get your point for the thread but at the same time, I'm assuming you know what people mean when they say normal too.

In case you don't:

People aren't saying don't add new features ect, people just don't want the main focus to be said new features. They don't want the focal point to be some controller innovation / gimmick (depending on what work you like)

Also the Dualshock 3 isn't normal because it has Sixaxis motion control in games, Also the Dualshock 2 isn't normal because it has analogue sticks and buttons (remember holding someone up in MGS2? squeeze that button too hard and you accidentally get Head confetti)

All Playstation consoles have added something to the mix on the controller, the thing is... they've added the new thing to a winning formula, one that the fans of the system and brand have been vocal about enjoying so they've not gone against the grain and moved away from their core audiences preference, each time a new Nintendo console comes out the user has to deal with 2 new things 1. the new console/games/interface and 2. the controller being different. I mean if it wasn't for the fact that Mario/Zelda/Metroid and Co. were software for the consoles it would be tough to know which console line the Nintendo systems came into if you never seen a console before and they had the logos removed.

Think that is why Nintendo either gains or loses a lot of gamers between gen compared to most, sometimes their old fans think.... naw, not this time, and that isn't because they no longer love Nintendo but more that the new consoles are simply not designed for their fans, but in the hopes of new and different players who liked what they did the previous gen, means basically Nintendo can never please fans of those which have come before universally.

Super Meat Boy says hi, and no.

Nintendo Never had no controller at all.

Because that system doesn't exist.

imsorry

Nintendo is the Matrix confirmed.

"Do not try and use the controller, that's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth...there is no controller"

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I disagree. Besides the Wii, there was no blueprint for this "normal contorller" you speak of. Do you refer to like the PS controllers as the norm???

I think they've had decent controllers before the Wii. The Wii and after have been terrible design and for casual gaming in my opinion.

the wii has an amazing design, not for hardcore gamers but we are not the center of the universe. Motion controls?? that was a revolution back in 2006. was gimmicky yeah, but you can play with it.

I agree that the Wii was a huge phenomenon but imo it was more of an evolution than revolution.

The Wii and the "Wii" series of games that went to sell over 200 mill combined are one of Nintendo's biggest successes ever but at the same time a product of Nintendo being inspired by the PlayStation Eyetoy tech and series of games.

EyeToy Play Sports (motion controlled boxing, tennis, etc) -> Wii Sports (motion controlled boxing, tennis, etc)

EyeToy Play (motion controlled minigames) -> Wii Play (motion controlled minigames)

EyeToy Kinetic (motion controlled exercise game) -> Wii Fit (motion controlled exercise game)

EyeToy Monkey Mania (motion controlled party games) -> Wii Party (motion controlled party games)

EyeToy Groove (motion controlled rythm game) -> We Dance (motion controlled rythm game)

OT: I prefer when Nintendo innovates through software rather than hardware. My Wii U Pro Controller is my favorite Nintendo controller and if that's what you label as a "normal" controller, I want Nintendo to go "normal" (hardware wise) more often :)

Those Nintendo myths will never die i suppose. Especially with that undertone of others "stealing" their "innovations". But never the other way around. It was Nintendo who introduced the first gamepad with analogue stick and shoulder buttons, not "SEGA" with ugly bugly XE-1AP. And "standarsized" dem. Even though the design of the N64 is considered flawed and not the single anlogue stick solution on a centered third handle is the standard nowadays, but two non isolated sticks within the mainbody. And who introduced this design choice with way improved functionality? It was not Nintendo.

What is that *Makes a quick search on Google*

What is that? It looks like a hybrid of the Atari Jaguar and one of those early PC controllers gone horribly, horribly wrong.
