Actually 2D Mario is not obvious one, I dont think we will see new 2D Mario in near future. Far more obvious is 3D Mario.

2D mario is cheaper , faster and more popular than 3D mario. It is also has been bigger time  gap then 3D mario. The only reason I see them not making itis if theyt thought mario maker replaced it . (It will not).

NSMBU was pretty bad launch title for Wii U, 3D Mario is far bigger game that has much stronger impact and that brings lots attention to platform, espacily in 1st year. Mario Maker is 2D Mario game, Mario 3D World is finished in 2013, so March 2017. will be around 3.5 years of development, NIntendo basically said they working on new Mario. We are geting 3D Mario in NX 1st year, not 2D.

Remaster StarFox: Zero Wii U and use "classic" controls and I will be on-board with the NX from day 1. Hope Nintendo does it.

Pikmin 4 was mentioned by Miyamoto as being "close to completion" late last year. Not sure what that means for your guesses. It could potentially get moved over to NX, but it's less likely than it was for Zelda since Pikmin's not a huge seller and Nintendo still need something for Wii U later this year.

I suspect it's going to be similar to pikmin 3 which if I remember properly, was due to be released on Wii a few years before the Wii U launched.

Personally none of the following would surprise me in year 1.

Zelda

Mario Kart (possibly enhanced MK8)

Mario maker (enhanced)

Splatoon title (again possibly enhanced release of the original)

Smash Bros (enhanced)

Luigi's mansion 3

Retro title

3D Mario

Pikmin 4

Why so many enhanced? Much shorter dev time and ones I suspect Nintendo will feel would have sold more Wii Us had the console been in a better position when they came out.

Not too much needs changing with them either. 1080p/60 all dlc plus some extra content and they'd be good to rereleases at full price.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

No, historically  2D mario always sells better than 3D mario. Always! 2D mario is pretty much the only thing selling the Wii U at launch.  When Super Mario 3D world came out it didn't even put the wii U up YOY for most of the time period. 2D mario has the history of breaking records. 3D  mario doesn't do that. The closes was mario 64

Launching an HD console with a 2D Mario probably wasn't the smartest way to showcase the console though. Especially a 2D Mario that basically used the same art style as the Wii/DS games.

Well that is Nintendo's fault not 2D mario's fault. They just do not want to put much of a budget in that series.  However in the end it does not really matter. Some games can really showcase the power while others do not. What matters more are fun games that do not look under budget. 2D mario is fits that. Also there are people out there who do not value graphics and 2D mario helps grabs those people.

I didnt talk about sales, like i wrote, "3D Mario is far bigger game that has much stronger impact and that brings lots attention to platform, espacily in 1st year."

Do you really think that NSMBU basically HD version of NSMB was system seller, do you relly think somebody buyed Wii U on first place to play NSMB HD!? Do you think some one said look that great and phenomenal 2D Mario game on brand new console!?

Even 2D Mario is more popular its not game that sales systems like 3D Mario, also 3D Mario can show power of new hardware while 2D game really can't do that, so 3D Mario like launch or 1st year game is far better choice than 2D Mario.

Hard to say exactly, seems likely the NX version of Zelda would be a launch game, assuming it's releasing early 2016 on Wii U.
I can buy a new 3D Mario game, which could be a launch game, depends on the scope of the project.
Retro are rumored to be working on a new IP, so maybe that could be late Summer, early Fall.

Hopefully Nintendo have a few new IPs target at fresh audiences, to bring in new gamers.
There hasn't been an F-Zero for ages, maybe one of those at some point or a Wave Race, either would be cool as launch games.
Get some 3rd party like Ubisoft to make a new IP to bring in 3rd party audiences or maybe Beyond Good and Evil 2 could be something of a remake, evolving the gameplay and updating the franchise to make it fresh for new audiences too.

God knows though really, hopefully Emily Roger's comment about NX's output being huge was true.
I wouldn't mind seeing some cool indies and stuff developed like Splatoon was.
