That sounds like a good thing. More companies willing to invest in the game industry and publish games, especially those that are willing to let devs keep the property rights themselves is definitely a good thing.

Gamestop though? How's that going to work? Aren't they one of the biggest fans of retailer exclusive stuff? Could these games they're publishing end up being sold exclusively in Gamestop stores or something?

I imagine them not having the games available digitally xD

why not? why limit their market? they would still have a large profit margin on those. do you expect them not to sell their games at other retailers as well like best buy  wallmart? of course they will, they would be stupid by cutting their market like that. gamestop owns what, half of the retail market share? this way, they make a bigger profit margin at half of the retail market, while also selling it at other retailers to gain more sales and profits.

the games they should publish should be profitable, and the best way to do that is to sell as much as possible of them.

Do they have a public spokesperson yet. A face like shu for Sony. I won't be surprised if in the future they will have a GameStop e3 conference XD

Bet with gooch_destroyer, he wins if FFX and FFX-2 will be at $40 each for the vita. I win if it dont

I guess this is a good news?

This is awesome news. Give smaller studios a platform to make their own games without having to give up the IP or creative freedom to MicroSony. We already saw with Insomniac where they went with one console over the other because one would let them keep the IP and one wouldn't. This would allow them to release on all consoles and still keep the IP. Better for them, better for gamers.

Pretty cool, but the name is terrible. "Game Trust"? Sounds like it should be a bank.

With that name, I hope they don't start rushing games out or the jokes will be inavoidable. That aside, it's a good move from Gamestop, and they are not the first ones to make this transition. Amazon also has games in development.

By the way, Tequila Works has been fast finding a new partner for Rime.

Please excuse my bad English.

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

This is something I was expecting since Song of the Deep was announced months ago. It could work out well, or it could absolutely bomb. Not a fan of who they chose besides Insomniac though, and Insomniac was a test project so I don't think they'll work together again.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

Well, it does seem an interesting venture for a retailer. But it's still a part of Gamestop, and that I don't like.

Evolve or die. They chose the former.
