It's boring and slow and no skill involved. Within minutes I was the top player every round. It feels nothing like a true arena shooter or even old school doom. Very generic with a doom-ish skin.

Way too negative.

I thought its a fun, modern take on classical game design.

My thoughts after playing the Beta on PC.
I absolutely love the visuals and the art design, it really sets the tone. The gameplay is good followed by the sound which is also good. My biggest gripe is its balancing in MP. The amount of times I was spawned and double shotgun in the back not even a second later was poorly designed (Hopefully it’s only the Beta). The game is fast and most times you will be turning a corner and ramming into 3 or 4 emery players which you have no chance on surviving.

Doom feels a lot like Halo especially the Red and Blue colour themes for MP which is a great thing since Halo sets the bench mark for FPS games, however unlike Halo, Doom also feels just like a Run and Gun shooter with little to no strategy.

I will be buying Doom day one on PC for its single player campaign which I think will be amazing how ever Doom’s multiplayer lacks strategy, especially compared to Halo 5.

If you like a the old school Quake games and not a fan of thinking before shooting then Doom is your GOTY

Pretty much this.  While the MP is alright, it's the gameplay/mechanics that you see in the MP that I'm really actually pretty excited to play the SP content w/ .  Levels and Combat having more verticality?  Yes please! :D

Agreed. As much as the multiplayer was underwhelming I'm still bullish on the single player campaign. I'm hoping that since multiplayer was outsourced to Certain Affinity, the single player will benefit from id's full attention.

Aye, I won't lie, I loved MP Doom back in the day, but it was the SP that drew me in first and foremost, not the MP.

Doom MP beta is getting alot of hate on PC, has a 36% on Steam. Much more positive on consoles though, 4.5/5 on Xbox Store and a 5/5 on the PS Store. PC gamers seem to be annoyed by the changes that were made to the classic Doom formula in order to try and win over more console FPS fans ironically, lol.

I think the MP is pretty fun, but I can see it getting old fast, there's not much in the way of weapon, map, and game type variety, in the beta at least. Hopefully the full game will have alot more variety or else it will see a big playerbase dropoff a month or two after release, much like what happened to Titanfall.

Tbh I was never into whatever multiplayer following DOOM had, I was more into Quake and UT at the time for multiplayer FPS. The multiplayer for the latest DOOM does scream of some COD influence with a hint of adhering to the gamepad than say the mouse, the gameplay feels slower than those of the past series, the pandering to the different crowd is most definitely there adn I can see why one crowd would show mostly negative reviews and not be happy, I mean look at how Fallout 4 turned out and then there are the unreleased mod tools of course. I do feel the hate is justified though.

That sounds right. I think Doom multiplayer was developed with the console gamer in mind. I found it fast-paced, but I was weaned on games like Turok, GoldenEye, and Perfect Dark - not exactly the quickest FPS games out there. For gamers used to Doom, Quake, and Unreal, I can definitely see why they'd be frustrated by Doom's relative slowness. It also seems like the game, at least for some, is poorly optimized on PC, which doesn't help matters.

In general, I think Certain Affinity tried to please both PC arena FPS fans and class-based console FPS fans and ended up producing a product that doesn't satisfy fully either demographic.

As for your comparison to Titanfall, I think that's absolutely correct. I anticipate multiplayer attendance dropping precipitously a few months after launch.

It was fun, but quickly grew old (beta is limited, I know). I'll play more of the beta tonight, but that will probably be the extent of time I give this game. I am a PC gamer, and it looks good and runs flawlessly, but yea, just feels generic to me and the only unique thing it has going for it is the revenant. The crap people gave Battlefront (a game I do enjoy) should be given to this game as well. I do wait to see how the SP is and what mod tools will bring, so I have hope the game can turn around for me.

Runs fine on my setup, though after 7 matches it all starts to feel exactly the same which is to also say I got this feeling with battlefront and that multiplayer just wore off and felt static even months later.I can definitely see myself playing the campaign and not bothering with the multiplayer in the end, I'll likely wait for a sale before buying the game though since the campaign is the only portion of the game that I'm going to like, the beta has already failed to impress me into wanting to play more.
