Forums - Gaming - Final Fantasy 7 Remake Will Be Multiple Full-Sized Games ( Like ff 13 )

I think this mindset is why a lot of people are confused. All three of those games make up the FF13 story.

But this isn't really how it works. FF13 make up the FF13 story. Then there's two random sequels called XIII-2 and Lightning Returns that make up the Fabula Nova Cristalis story or whatever it's called and also retcon certain parts of the already completed FF13 story, because otherwise they wouldn't make any sense.

No, those two sequels are still the FF13 story. Agito and Type 0 are part of the Fabula Nova Crystalus world, along with the 3 FF13 titles.

Versus XIII was another FNC, but I believe the connection was cut when Tabata came onboard.

No, no. Those things take place in a different universe where for some reason the FF13 story was altered in order to accomodate for them.

Except The Witcher 3 was 200+ hours long, and it was all on one disc. I think you're underestimating exactly how much disc space these new Blu-Rays can carry as opposed to the, mind you, not even DVDs, but mere CD-ROMs of the PS1 era. Each individual part of FFVIIR could certainly fit on a single disc.

Granted, it certainly wouldn't come cheap to release all 3 parts at once on a multi-disc retail version. It's understandable in that regard why they're going with the episodic release. Of course, I would've preferred a multi-disc release just like the original PS1 version, but it is what it is.

A multi-disc retail version might come some time after they've released all 3 parts digitally, though I understand it may take a while. It could even come as late as the 9th gen as a remastered multi-disc release.

Excuse me for butting in.

Witcher 3 took place on one continent. FF7 has the entire world for you to travel; multiple continents to explore, oh and underwater.

So all that plus new content; I can see FF7R needing multiple disc. 200+/- hours per disc maybe.

I never said it wouldn't require multiple discs. What QP seems to be getting at is it wouldn't be possible to fit each part of FFVIIR on a single disc or a multi-disc retail release for FFVIIR wouldn't be possible, period. And BTW, I meant each part individually, not cram all 3 parts/episodes on a single disc.

Hardly seems like a remake if they have to divide it up.

And since when was FF13 in 3 parts? It was FF13, then 2 sequels no one bought.

It's going to take 3 games to tell the Final Fantasy VII story. They're going to have a lot new things to do that wasn't in the original, and in addition to that, they'll be incoporating things from all of the FF7 media into the remake.

1 game disc should be able to fit FF7 in it's entirety and then some unless they plan on doing a massive continuation of that story line.

I really doubt it's about disc space as it is time it takes creating the content... I'm little confused reading some comments in here about length or the disc space. The single biggest factor for any game is always creating the game not arbitrary shit like that. That's even true with The Witcher 3. They didn't have a predefined amount of hours decided on. What a stupid metric.lol

To clearify... different games use varing disc space. Trying to compare to The Witcher 3 underminds a vast amount of what can soak up the space. They are after all different games.

I don't know so I can't say. 1 game disc could likely contain FF1-10, that doesn't mean they aren't 10 separate games.

They've already said they're going to be using elements from overall FF7 storyline (i.e. things from Advent Children, Crisis Core, etc will be in the game or referenced). We won't know if the game actually comes out.

I know, I was trying to give naysayers a better picture. That should tell people it's gonna be larger.

Honestly, this could be a fun experiment. We've been waiting for FFVII to be remade and now we get THREE games. Hell, it may be more fun this way. You'll get to play more FFVII over a longer period of time, rather than just plowing through it all in a week or something.

Lol @ FF7R in 2017 when they're still not done with KH3.

But this isn't related to KH3, and this is an expontentially higher priority than a KH game.

Says your own imagination. Here in reality though, a game in the making for less than a year isn't coming out sooner than a game that's been in development for at least thrice that much time, let alone in the following year.
