Just because other people don't have the same standard for resolution as you does not mean they lack self control. Jesus christ what kind of logic is that even?

The kind of logic that has seen industry standards stagnate or regress in 10 years.

I agree. That type of logic (ie that everyone should have the same opinions as you) is only detrimental to the industry. Since you apparently agree, I can only wonder why you use that sort of logic, but to each their own.

I never understood the problem with resolution. I love games from gens 3-7 even though most are below 720p. As long as a game is good the resolution shouldn't matter. If it does, you're not gaming for the right reasons

If we're speaking as a whole.. Given the choice, of course I'd take 1080P (or higher) any day. However if the game is console exclusive on a last gen console; lets say Yakuza 5 on PS3, in our region.. then yes. Its acceptable.

On eighth generation consoles however.. 720p should really be a thing of the past. The image looks soft - even when upscaled. And then you have aliasing and other artifacts.

I never understood, therefore, you're not gaming for the right reasons.  Wow...some deep thoughts right there Star Ocean.

Is this thread about which console has the most 1080p games?

The real question is 720p a deal breaker? Regardless how interesting a game looks would you not play it due to 720p resolution?

I understand. I wanna say is that i will not give up to play a game because is 720p, but i can't accept that some consoles still run games in 720p resolution in 2016.

Are you excited for Final Fantasy XV then? Dynamic resolution and unlocked framerate and all.

Most games I've been playing on the console are 720p so it's fine with me :p

I care more about a consistent framerate though

Totally.
I don't even mind 480p.

I still do media consumption in 480p, it's no issue for me (plus my TV upscales SD content beautifully).

Since this generation started, I've used more HD media defaulting in 720p, but if 480p is only avaiable I will consume it.

Yeah, lots of TV shows and movies I'm still watching on DVDs or files I've downloaded in SD resolution.

I play retro games and 3DS. Low resolution is a non-issue.

(That being said, of course I like it when stuff looks better and sharper.)

Need something off Play-Asia? http://www.play-asia.com/

Resolution is not an issue. I play 3ds games at 800 X 240. We are FAAAAAAAAARRRRRR beyond a time where it really matters.

Mostly, yeah. There are far more disruptive technical aspects (framerate drops, screen tearing, stuttering, bad pop-in) that affect my enjoyment of a game than resolution. I do notice the differences in 720p and 1080p on my TV, but honestly I don't find it distracting enough to be much of an issue.

720p for couch gaming from 10ft from a 55" display (and below) is perfectly fine.
