This could turn out well for her. Microsoft may hire her as a dancer for their developers conferences now.

I'm just annoyed to see another horseshit story that paints gamer's as the bogeyman, turn out days later to be something completely different and what would appear to be a logical firing by a conservative child-oriented company.

Honestly, I don't care if she wants to be a sex worker, that's none of my business, and I don't consider it work anyone should be ashamed of.  I do feel bad for her Husband, but he choses to be in that relationship, so there's only so much I can feel on it.  It's the lie/misrepresentation of the truth that pisses me off.

That was unexpected lol. So was she taking a second job as a prostitute? And tweeting about pedophilia? Working in a family-friendly company? Well, yeah, I don't understand why some people don't get that she was fired. I don't blame her for scorting on her free time, I mean, it's her life, she do with it whatever she wants. But obviously she had to be careful about the consequences of her job if some people dig about her.

Huh, damn, unbelieveable

All I'm gonna say is a lot of people owe Nintendo an apology.

I heard a lot of criticism towards Nintendo for not standing behind their employees. However, those same media outlets probably won't report why Nintendo actually let her go.

I concur. I bet no one posts a retraction or an apology

It seems some people will continue to defend her by saying escorting has no impact on her job.

Bottom line, she made herself a public figure while doing activities that clearly conflict with Nintendo.

Shitting on Nintendo is fair game when we knew very little.

But why she really got fired is none our business I guess.

I honestly doubt it - it's Kotaku who more or less started all this, and to paraphrase Stephen Totilo from his interview with TotalBiscuit "gaming journalism is boring, so we need to stir (sh)it up", I'd say mission accomplished.

This is most troubling IMO from all this - trolls will be trolls, and how you handle them, as PR especially, is something that is essential in this day and age - but how some gaming press handled this, jumping on "Rapp as martyr" train is just continuation of them having no ethics.

BTW, this thread will most likely be locked, like the other one, cause it seems we're getting more like GAF around here.

The only person responsible for Alison Rapp's firing is Alison Rapp. You can't expect to work in marketing / PR at a major world-wide corporation and not get fired for such activities as moonlighting with a 2nd job taking NSFW pics and spouting off the controversial stuff on social media that she did.

Predictably though, she's become a martyr for the SJW crowd after the initial Kotaku article framed this whole incident as another female in the gaming industry getting lynched by the "he-man women haters" GamerGate crowd. While there's no doubt there are some vile trolls out there, GG has transformed into the SJW crowd's universal boogeyman as a way to deflect criticism from one's own actions.

I can't believe anyone would defend this women honestly. This women was defending pedophiles not to mention the other stuff she was involved with.

Such an important point. I could careless about that field of work and honestly I wish it eas compeltely legal here. After the break up I had with my GF the last thing I wanted was to go out and meet other girls but at the same time I'm a relatively young man (or at least back then I was) and I had urges that needed to be filled. Porn and my hand can only last for so long (about a month) before I needed something real to tide me over. It would have been so much better to have a worker come and handle the job instead of pikcing up some girl and dropping her off the next day when 90% of the time I didn't want these girls sleeping at my house but I'm not some a-hole who sleeps with women then says "ok time to leave".
