Until Dawn wasn't a AAA game and so the score it got was acceptable. It's different from QB a game that took over 3 years to make.

Now I said that the reviews are mediocre but ti seems like a game I'll like. So in my personal opinion the game looks like its good but review wise its mediocre.

Until Dawn most definitely was a AAA budgeted game (which also had a 3-year dev cycle, btw). But even if it wasn't, that's a shifting argument and grasping @ straws. Why is a 78 mediocre, to you? I keep hearing it's about "VGC's gamers expectations" - yet, our average was a mere 5 points higher. So no, the reviews are not mediocre based even on that shifting of rules.

ANything below an 80 is below average.

Below average +mediocre (imo)

78 is an above average score for me, nearly a great score.

However, when exclusivity is involved, people's perception can be altered. Xbox fans shouldn't be surprised that people call QB mediocre for scoring 78 when they called inFamous Second Son mediocre when it scored 80. It may be petty, but people remembr things like that.

And that is just one example, but it happens with parts of all fanbases.

Average in terms of what? The VGC's prediction average? The average score of XB1 games?

And for the last time, mediocre means neither good nor bad. On a 10-point scale, a mediocre game is usually scored as a 5. Look at Destructoid, PS Lifestyle, and IGN's review policies as examples. Their criteria for scores above and below 5 are different, but they're very similar when it comes to giving a 5.

Based on what criteria is sub 80 "below average"?

My citeria.

Now we're gettin' somehwere.

Big games like Quantum Break,   the Average is higher than 80, you want to say that a Game is Mediucre only when it score the 50 on Metacritic ?, Call of Duty Black Ops 3, Star Wars Battlefront, and Destiny, are mediucre scores for what a Big game would be, a Game will very hardly score 50 on Metacritic, or 60, because this is the Average score of Dozens of sites, some will give it a 10/10, others a 2/10.

Mediucre, does not means that is bad, but also does not means that is good, and the 70-79,  already are low scores, IGN, gave 9, and GameSpot, gave 4, there are very different oppinions, we are not discussing the Quality of Quantum Break, we are just discussing about in what Number a Game is considered mediucre, compared to others, Alan Wake, did 83 on Metacritic, this is a good score, 78, is much below.

I'm not sure why the definition of the word must be changed to fit an argument. A mediocre "anything" means it is not good.

Also, nobody's personal view of Quantum Break has ever been a point of discussion, here. It's very simple - I asked for a criteria that puts a 78 in the "mediocre" box. Jason's latest response sums it up, which means I can continue to look at that score as above average. Whether we're talking books, digital media, education, or what have you.

Is Because Metacritic, don't have a Criterion for those scores, the site pick Random reviews that use different criterions, and put them, all Together, other  places don't do this, is just One Person or One Team's opinion.

Technically the average score for video games on Metacritic is 74, so anything less than that would be considered below average.

78 isn't terrible, but its 11 points below what I expected. So huge miss for that one...

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Is this true? How do you know it's 74? :o

If you go under any game and go check a publications reviews it will tell you the average metacritic score they give and how far off the average they are.

For example: http://www.metacritic.com/publication/gamespot?filter=games

Gamespot gives an average metacritic score of 68 which is 5.8 points lower than other critics. Thus, 73.8, or 74 rounded up, is the average metacritic score for all reviewed video games.

Well its sitting at 9th and still steadily climbing, so I guess reviews aren't really hampering it. Guess we have to wait till Tuesday.
