Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo fires treehouse member Alison Rapp

According to Nintendo's own statement, she was fired for having a second job that conflicted w/ her work at Nintendo:

However, one wouldn't be surprised at all to find out that a person hired for PR purposes, got fired for bringing negative PR to the company.

"Alison Rapp was terminated due to violation of an internal company policy involving holding a second job in conflict with Nintendo’s corporate culture. Though Ms. Rapp’s termination follows her being the subject of criticism from certain groups via social media several weeks ago, the two are absolutely not related. Nintendo is a company committed to fostering inclusion and diversity in both our company and the broader video game industry and we firmly reject the harassment of individuals based on gender, race or personal beliefs. We wish Ms. Rapp well in her future endeavors.”

World doesn't work that way, defending her would be interpreted by the mainstream media as defending her stance, she herself didn't help matters as she openly engaged and taunted people herself. If you champion controversial views like pedophilia prepare to fight your own battles in regards to them.

Exactly. People nowadays keep on forgetting that there are consequences for your actions.  If you want to push a controversial opinion, you better damn well make sure that you either have ironclad job security or are well-off enough that you don't have to work.  From what I've seen, the people defending Rapp seem to be following some kind of odd narrative about harrassment when from what I've seen, she was giving as good as she was receiving.  And honestly, I have a feeling if this person were named Andrew Rapp, a lot of the people complaining about this probably wouldn't give a damn.

while usually i would say that no should take anything said on twitter seriously but when you work as PR for a company like Nintendo while saying pro-pedo stuff at that point your basically giving your 2 week notice.

You know what one of the funniest things about this is?  One of the people defending Rapp, Patrick Klepek, actually wrote a big article earlier this month that publicized Rapp's controversial opinions.  He's probably just as, if not more, responsible for Rapp getting the axe than the people he blames.

This, the timing of the firing is really just coincidental.

If some of the rumors of her second job are to be believed, I'd understand why NOA would want to fire her right away.

this god damn shirt of her's really doesn't not surprised me that someone like her would have it.

By the sounds of the article, it seems like she wasn't a bad person (and I generally dislike feminists, or at least the ones that get the most publicity). Too bad she got fired.

every person who thinks females and males deserve to have the same rights, wages (for equal work) and opportunities is a feminist though

if you defend pornography Nintendo is keeping you as far away from their western operations as possible. Sucks that people dug so hard to fire her, but honestly Nintendo should've taken this into account when considering hiring her, if it is indeed connected to her LinkedIn.
