Forums - Nintendo - Wii U Games that use amiibo well vs. Games that don't

Is the issue of Amiibos though..

Split up into three categories:
1) All can be used for minor things such as items and costumes
2) Multiple amiibos are usable but there are some amiibo locked content
3) Modes or game requires the use of amiibos for 'full' experience

Having only minor things like aesthetic costumes and such will not entice enough people to buy them (there will be some that buy it regardless, of course) but if they add in a amiibo exclusive feature in the game, this is basically a $15 paywall that is often hard to get due to shortages

I really liked the original concept of amiibos, where when you buy an amiibo, it can be used in mutiple games but they are basically releasing a new amiibo for each game which is super annoying :/

I don't disagree, but I have a minor addition.

Most of the newer Amiibo releases are basically pallete swaps right? Every single Mario Amiibo allows for the same funtionality in all games, right? Woolly Yoshi and normal yoshi are still functionally the same. Where they stepped over the line is that 30 year anniversary Mario that doesn't have parity with the other Marios. Until that they didn't 'force' you into buying the same character again at least.

The Mario party 10 Amiibo issue was never a problem for me, as I already had the compatible Amiibo way before the game came out. I also think its the best Mario party game in the series..seriously. Bowser party is the best thing ever implemented in the series, but that's an entirely different conversation. On topic, I would say that Yoshi or Mario maker has had the best Amiibo use.

Splatoon should be good because they have replicas of the weapons and gear that can be unlocked in game. SF zero should be bad. I'm ok with twilight princess because the amiibo comes with the game.

I have one of those. Aside from Mario Maker, I'm pretty sure it works like any other Mario amiibo on the other games.

I would put Twilight HD on the bad. Because the digital people are screwed. And when the Amiibo is not sold anymore, with the game. Then those people will be.

Nah, eventually, a few months from now Nintendo will begin selling the Wolf Link amiibo and the physical game seperately. It'll be easy, since the Wolf Link amiibo already comes in its basic packaging within the bundle. There's no reason for Nintendo to stop producing the Wolf Link amiibo anytime soon at all. None.

bet: lost

The only good way to make amiibo content is for that content to still be unlockable without amiibo, thus every single amiibo compatible game does it badly except Pokken Tournament.

Pretty much this. The amiibo should be what most people actually buy for it: a collectible figure.

So it wouldn't force anyone to buy the amiibo just for the digital content

Who said stop. It be now the issue of all the other ammibo's. Buying extra stuff for DLC.

Or make any amiibo unlock anything, from any game. Because the goal here, isn't selling DLC. Just the figure. So what you unlock wouldn't matter to begin with. So Allowing Zelda to unlock an Arwing, would be acceptable.
