This is a horrible thing to do. Most People buy the amiibos for the figures not the dlc. Such a bad move.

If the mode is unlockable through a method other than Amiibo, like beating the game, then there is no problem, to me anyway.

But if this is the only way to unlock it, that's essentially on-disc DLC, which I oppose on principal.

Hard to say from that, to be honest. It could simply be a different hard mode variation. That would still be kind of lame but not super-lame. There is also the possibility you can unlock the black ship during normal game-play, which would make this a non-issue. Of course, that would also make that Amiibo kind of useless, so I tend to doubt that.

Probably best to wait before drawing a conclusion.
