Naw that's pretty much what they are, day 1 on-disc overpriced dlc.

I can resell my Amiibos if I wanted to, some are compatible with multiple games, they can be lent to friends and if you collect figures, they're certainly very collectable.

Can't really do this with digital DLC as far as I know.

It has a few added benefits that aren't relevant to everyone, but there is no denying that amiibo content is a seperate charge from the main package despite being available at the same time and on the same disc you fully paid for, and of course the price is just laughable for what you get.

Well that's a mute point as obviously they're not exactly the same. I only said they are "pretty much" the same. Both are additional content you have to pay for, so people can totally compare them.

Certainly candidates for comparison but declaring them the same would be unfair, to say the least.

It's possible there are other options to increase the difficulty, yes, but it's pretty clear that this is the mode they talked about earlier where your defense is lowered but offense is raised.
