Hayter played the only Snakes that mattered so who cares.

I kinda agree with him. He was a crucial piece in the franchise, and while some fans think he wasnt a good voice actor (specially after Kiefer took the role) we cant deny he was very passionate about this role and very committed to his work. I even remember him talking fondly of Kojima.

The way Kojima handled the situation was not ok imo. Yes hes the creator and entitled to do whatever he wants with his game, but replacing Hayter out of the blue (and keeping Akio Otsuka as the japanese VA) was not very nice, and still dont sit well with me.

For some Hayter may be a crying baby about this whole thing but i can really see where hes coming.

Im am a fan of his work. He was not a troy-baker-nolan-north-versatile-VA but to me his performance was at least unique and charismatic. Kiefer is of course a much better actor, but his Snake was very soulless in MGSV, save some very specific moments. Of course it grew on me and i could look past it, but to me Snake and Big Boss will always be David Hayter.

And dont bring the whole "but big boss was in coma so his voice changed" or "solid and naked had different voices so it was time to change" excuses. If that was the case, Akio Otsuka wouldnt be reprising. And even so, if this game had Solid as protagonist, Kojima would have replaced Hayter anyway. He did it because he wanted and he could. Period.

Akio Otsuka played all the Snake roles and Big Boss. There was no voice issue or story related reason.

Kojima wanted Hollywood name and tried since MGS3 to kick hayter to the curb.

Its exactly what i meant.  i was talking about the often used excuses fans tend to bring to justify Kojima's choice.

Yeah, when everyone was jumping at Konamis throat of how they treated Kojima, it was obvious that Kojima was not the innocent genius some portrayed him to be. He seemed way to full of himself, and we have still absolutly no idea what actually went down there. This is yet another proof that Konami might have been forced to let him go, even if I do not like the direction the company is going.

Of course it wasn't an issue.  Akio Otsuka was a dubbed voice-over, that's not the same thing at all as getting an actor to do motion-capture.

Motion capture can be done by anyone. Cole Train on Gears:UE was mocaped by a different actor but the voice remained Lester Speight's.

I never liked his voice acting for Snake, kiefer sunderland was a better voice actor kojima did the right thing

Well, played out just as I thought. Perhaps Kojima deserved some of the Konami dick action after dicking Hayter over.

controversial opinion:

Hayter isn't that good a voice actor, I would've rather played all MGS games with the jpn voices

Why would they pay two actors when they can get a great actor to do both?

I can't imagine Snake being voiced by anyone but Hayter. Hope Hayter lands other major roles that'll help him move on.

He literally said he doesn't know Kojima and didn't work with him. The only thing that spurs what he is saying is that Kojima wanted someone else.

People get replaced all the time, including voice actors and new characters. Perhaps Kojima thought that really any actor would be really popular for playing the role, and to be honest, he's kinda right.
