Forums - Nintendo - Images of the NX Controller Surfaces!

You know, now that I think about it some more my theory could actually work really well if utilized properly and you wouldn't have the issue of constantly looking at the controller in order to find out where a digital button is located.

Edit: If I turn out to be right I want credit

This is alledgedly how the Wii U dev kit looked in the beginning.
Details can still change.

Calm down! Calm down and repeat to yourself: They still can fix this, they still can fix this....

Maybe it's not for the NX, but something else?

Not keeping my hopes up.

It will turn out that it is the Vita's successor, a PlayStation phone.

Nintendo is all about the youngsters. If generation Z & Alpha is getting a headstart by using  phones/tablets, a device like this will be more natural to pick up and play.  The traditional controller  is going extinct. However, I'm sure Nintendo will have alternate control schemes and layouts.

According to who exactly?

Nintendo ...they cater to the young and all the dinos get mad lol.

On top of the lack of physical buttons, it looks uncomfortable to hold.

Thumbsticks are too small, and the lack of proper face buttons is concerning. Hopefully this will be seriously improved upon before launch.

If not, then I hope Pro Controller 2 is up to snuff (and exists). I also hope no major games will force the use of the main controller if this picture is legit, or include bullshit like in Super Mario 3D world where random parts of some stages required the Gamepad.

Fingers crossed that Nintendo can defy the odds again with this, because right now my hype is low.

This reminds me about some commentary on kids and their exposure to smartphones from a young age. Something like this may actually be more welcome by the crowd who never got accustomed to button controls in the first place. Is Nintendo smart to target that audience or should they cater to their older fanbase who overwhelmingly want a more traditional controller.

Also, even with third party support, this forces developers to pay special attention when developing for the platform. You can't just port the game to the Nx from Xbox and map the controller now.

Nintendo waited too long, they should have revealed it!

And the real big news here is that Ubisoft is working on a Nintendo system again...

Having a dev kit only means a developer has a dev kit. There is no guarantee Ubisoft or any other major third party devs will actually release anything on the system. I'm sure many are scratching their heads already at this controller.
