This reminds me about some commentary on kids and their exposure to smartphones from a young age. Something like this may actually be more welcome by the crowd who never got accustomed to button controls in the first place. Is Nintendo smart to target that audience or should they cater to their older fanbase who overwhelmingly want a more traditional controller.
Also, even with third party support, this forces developers to pay special attention when developing for the platform. You can't just port the game to the Nx from Xbox and map the controller now.
