Forums - Microsoft - QB Gets Day One Patch But No Graphics Tweak.

That article felt like it was full of ignorance, starting from the title. Increasing resolution from 720p to 1080p isn't a 'tweak', it's a feat that requires a lot of work and might not even be plausible.

I would rather have better visual effects and have the console pushed in ways other than just res and fps...in fact most of the time it makes for an even better looking game...

You can't have your cake and eat it too. Obviously something would have to be sacrificed to achieve anything higher than what we are getting. If it is really that important to you, get a PC.

You play console games on a 2k PC monitor? Do they not all look like blurry messes to you. My monitor is only 1080p, but a drop to even 900p turns anything into an ugly mess, whereas 720p looks fine on the TV. I would think even 1080p would look like garbage on a display like yours.

It's fine, just slightly blurry with my PS4 console, tried Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom & the rest(except Battlefield 4, Battlefront & Hardline). Worst thing is PS3/X360 games some of them are not really native 1080p or 720p, example i already tried Syndicate for the PS3 on 2K PC monitor... Oh boy, blurry as hell & the texture looked like some kind of turned into lowest, so, i unpluged PS3 console then moved to my old CRT TV(it has S-Video input) tried it again & what i see, it looks like high quality. xD

heh, I forgot about the sub-720p games laast gen. Wasn't Halo 3 like, 540p? Yet we somehow survived.

What's the name of your display? I might want to check it out myself. Maybe higher res displays haave some fancy tech to deal with upscaling.

CoD games had a pretty low resolution last gen and except for some people in forums nobody cared. Best selling franchise last gen (well, I think CoD was this) was also that with the lowest resolution. Just shows how important resolution is, it doesn't really matter to most as long as the games have something else to offer which people like. If a game is a disappointment for some just because of the resolution they should maybe think about if it couldn't be another reason^^

I just picture someone with an old SD CRT TV :D ZOMG THIS 720P LOOKS SO BLURRY, CAN'T EVEN READ THE TEXT.

Ahahah so true.

LCD is such a poor format for gamers because it handles different resolutions so badly. If it's not native, it can be lower or higher, it'll look equally shit.

The OLED of the Vita does it too if you noticed during games which aren't the systems native ress, think it was most noticable in Burning Sky during cutscenes, just weird color bleed down into areas which should have been black. Generally things not being the native ress of the screen aren't going to look perfect unless a lot of work goes into the screen being able to handle that other resolution.

LOL @ the idea that people are upset that they were "lied to" about the game being exclusive.

Xbone owners get the game still, and even a free PC copy if they want to go digital.
PC owners who weren't getting the game now do.

The only people who should be upset are people just looking for reasons to be upset. Probably people who weren't going to buy the game in the first place.

And of course, this completely ignores the fact that Remedy said all along they wanted the game to come to PC and anyone who has any history with their games knew it would be coming to PC.

No people are upset because MS said the game was exclusive to Xbox One for 3 years and said that the game was 1080p 30fps for 3 years and they released gameplay screenshots which are not legit. They lied multiple times. Imagine if you bought an Xbox One at launch for $500 waiting for this game to come out only to have it delayed multiple times and even downgraded (720p). Also imagine you also had a gaming rig capable of playing the game also. You could have saved yourself some money.

That it why we are upset. We were lied to by MS again. We were used by their deceptive marketing into buying something that we might not have otherwise bought. We do not care about it's 720p resolution. Gaming has never been about the resolution. It has alsways been about getting better and more imersive games.

And you do not get a free copy of the PC version of the game. You have to give up your rights of game ownership in order to get that. So its more of a trade off for value.

If you bought the console because resolution promises for one game you can blame yourself, really. It's not the first time this has happened and I'm not saying it's right of them to claim it's 1080p but still, you should know better. A life lesson to learn, maybe?

Why should it need a graphics patch? The game looks perfect to me.

Looked good enough in the digital foundry video. Don't see why a graphics patch should be such a high priority.

It's releasing with more graphical compromises than many were expecting, so there was a hope that some of the smaller stuff (pop-ins, some of the odder physics elements, etc) would be improved in a day 1 patch.

The game does still look excellent though, and the W10 version is available for those fortunate enough to have a PC that can get rid of some of the more easily scaled compromises (such as IQ). Looking at the recommended specs i might need to wait a few months until my next upgrade before picking it up though :/ Woe is me and my ageing PC.
