Well, I own Ocarina of Time on Wii U VC, and for one, it has a very noticeable input lag. Secondly, control stick precision and feel do not translate well from the N64 to the Wii U. Makes stuff like aiming a bow and arrow difficult. I'm assuming it has to do with how the N64 did not have full analog control sticks, which makes it so that they have to adapt the full analog controls of the Wii U version to play well with it (something they clearly didn't bother with).

I did end up going through the whole game, but from now on I'll stick with the N64 version. So that I can actually play the slingshot minigames.

Very interesting. Now, what I would love to know is, from a technical standpoint, why this is the case? This isn't an issue with all VC games is it?

This is only a problem with the N64 titles, I think. N64 VC games aren't the only titles to have a bit of input lag (though theirs is the most apparent). That, I'd imagine, comes with lazy porting. The other, which is the analog control, I think is just another failure to adapt the control stick differences between the N64's and Wii U's.

Nintendo is just plain lazy with the Virtual Console, I guess.

Nice deal, I have the game on the wii virtual console so I won't get it.

It'd be nice if North America gets this dea as well, especially to help allign with the release of Zero.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Just 5€? Great!

I'm getting this.

I was hoping for a 50 percent or more discount on SF64 3D. I already own my original N64 cart, and refuse to pay more than $20 for the 3DS version.

What has been bad about your VC experience? I have never used it, so it's genuine curiosity that has me asking.

I have Paper Mario 64 on the Wii U VC, and despite all the complaints about input lag I heard on that version of the game, I just didn't have a problem with it. And that's a game that has an extremely high dependence on timing and rhythm. Sin and Punishment on the other hand...

Thanks for explaining.

I have an N64, so I'm gonna pick up the real cartridge down the line. Every time I've purchased a VC game, I always end up buying the real game anyway because it just never "feels" or plays right without a CRT tv and original controller, so I'm not making that mistake again lol

It looks like it can vary greatly between games. Donkey Kong 64 has input lag, but since there's barely any notable platforming, it really doesn't matter much. I never noticed anything in Wave Race 64.

Well, I guess when SF64 comes to the american eShop I'll just wait and see if people are experiencing bad input lag on that. I couldn't bear myself to play the game if it has input lag.

Even SNES games have lag. I owned Super Mario Kart for a year or two before getting it again for my SNES, which is hooked up to a 90's CRT. I didn't realize just how laggy the VC version was until I played it properly on the original hardware. There was such a dramatic difference that I was annihilating the game. I had the same experience with F-Zero as well.

I don't know if it's Nintendo's programming or if it's the fact that an HDTV is trying to play games meant for TVs that didn't have input lag or what, but it's there, and it's obvious when you go back to the real version.

Hmmm to get this or try to hunt down a good copy of Star Fox 3D? Darn it, if only the latest batch of Nintendo Selects had included Star Fox 64 3D >_<

They each have their advantages.

Star Fox 64 3D is a great remake that improves a lot on the original game, with great graphics, much better controls, stable framerate everywhere, and awesome new features like the multiplayer mode (supports download play) and the much needed score attack mode.

However, the original version does have better voice acting and well, it would be played on the big screen.

Well thing is, I'm not sure how much I want to play an N64 game on a 60 inch screen :P

It's just a good copy of 64 3D is hard to find.
