Forums - Nintendo - "Alleged" photo of NX controller "leaked": We might as well discuss this now

Hint number 3.

In Layton games, after Hint no.3, there comes the ultimate explanation that put a rest to any problem or conflict one might be having with the puzzle at hand.

I'm hoping you'll do something like that after this last comment?

Do you have the requisite number of hint coins?

Want another?

Screen light. Thumb sticks aren't lit by the screen.

I'm not sure the screen is bright enough to cause a noticable difference there.

EDIT: Tested nvm.

Look at the cable.   And yes, the sticks would have some light affecting them.  Place something on your own cell phone screen and you'll see it reflects light from it.

I'm looking at the cable, yes. Care to explain a bit more?

Just for the sake of experimenting, I placed a coin on top of my cellphone screen, and obviously there's no reflective light from it. Because something that's polar view from a body of light does not reflect light, unless the screen is completely black

You can hide photoshop edits with after the fact photography.   Or it could just be a piece of paper glued to the plastic.

Data transfer.

So someone 3D prinited a idea from the patent fileings, and made this in plastic.

Went and prinited out a picture, and cut and glued it onto the plastic fake?

That seems like alot effort to go through.

Not really.  Not if you're already a 3D artist and have the tools on hand to create a 3D print.  Also, knowing how starved the gaming populace is for NX info, coming up with a convincing fake would be a good way to get your name out there or just screw with people.  Hell, I'd probably make a fake if I had the tools and the know-how.

Yes, but I'm saving them for Layton's challenges! :(

A coin is way too thin.  Try something shaped differntly.  Especially something that has a mushroom top and would catch up lighting.

As for the cable, go look at any prototype or dev kit controllers from previous consoles.  Look at they cables they use for all of them and then look at this one.

They're the cables of their respective controllers...so?

And I don't have anything shaped like that in my house. Except perhaps for some lightbulbes, but no way I'm unscrewing those!

OK...the final hint.

THERE IS A PIC OF FRIKKIN E.T. IN IT.

Your final hint is the weakest one, some user already explained what that was:

If it's already known E.T. is there, why in the world is everyone still debating if this is real?

Someone's cornered, it seems. Here, a nice theme.

Could you elaborate on this?

Why would they be lit by the screen? They're polar view from the light body.

Look at the cable.   And yes, the sticks would have some light affecting them.  Place something on your own cell phone screen and you'll see it reflects light from it.

I did exactly that, because I was curious (before reading your comment btw. :P) and the result of my exterimentation was, that it varies extremely if you can see the light reflect of whatever you put on there, depending on surrounding lightsources and the material of the object.

Darker objects with smooth surfaces reflect the lighter objects on screen best but otherwise don't show much in the way of being lit up. While white objects with matte surfaces show....nothing. Seriously. It might be neccissary to mention that I did not change my phones brightness specifically for this, so it was on a medium brightness.

Not saying you're wrong, this could be a well made fake, but the fact that the sticks aren't obviously lit up is not the reason neccissarily.

Interesting. I've always loved Nintendo for their drive to try new things. It would be really cool if it could slip into something like the Gear VR and give you a head display as well. Nintendo would be pushing wireless VR which is not a far fetch as their gamepad wireless is nearly latency free.

Very curious and not outright disgusted like others are.
