Me too.

I'm a bit iffy on how comfortable it will be to hold, though. the patent had more traditional controller handles. That being said, the consumer version might also look diffrent.

Yep, just add the handles and it will be good to me. Can't wait to customize my own controller!

lmao! I agree with NightDragon83, this things almost makes the PS3 banana controller look good.

I'm actually fine with the rigid joysticks, they could act as a "resistor" and measure the strenght we make: low force => small movement, high force => big movement.

My problem lies with the lack of buttons, the joysticks and therefore our fingers blocking part of the screen, and the whole shape of the thing.

I hope it's fake, or at least a very early prototype that will led to something better.

The intire point of the "touch screen" gamepad is that you can load any button setup you wish, for whatever game/app you want.

The buttons are there, they are just touch screen based, like when your playing on your phone.

And playing games on a phone is horrible because of it, ever tried nes or snes emulators on a phone? if it's not a turn based JRPG the games are unplayable.

 

Lack of buttons is objectively the worst thing that could happen to a controller.

Its nintendos vision of what controllers should look like... not mine.

However we shouldnt be so quick to judge, maybe it works better on their controller, than on smart phones.

As for me, I'm concerned about touchpad buttons. Even if you can customize their shape and placement (which is a positive thing that normal controllers don't offer), without the feel of a touch, I find myself misclicking often if I take my eyes off it. Maybe that's part of the reason why there's a big display there though? So you dont have to look at the TV?

I think the screen will be used more like an interface and customizable controller. About the buttons, some are talking about haptic feedback:

But for me tbh, i'll never play with something like that, i reeeally really hope this is fake, i need my Nintendo fix but this is just too much.

 

And if it isn't fake i hope it's just an accessory to play miitombo games on the console.
