I was hoping for a return to the true Fable after Legends. The technology now exists to create what was intended originally.

I mean, I know they lost their way a bit in the Fable machine, but they're still the remnants of Bullfrog that showed incredible promise between Black & White and The Movies. I had still hoped there was a little bit of the Bullfrog spirit left in the studio.

Aside from that, incredibly sad news for both the employees and the UK gaming industry as a whole. They were a pretty big part of it. Hope they manage to find work soon.

Fable Legends cancelled.
Project Knoxville - a supposed x1 exclusive - cancelled.

Huh. I wonder what will happen to Phantom Dust which is rotting in development hell.

I would like to point out that this does not necessarily mean that Fable is dead. In fact, Microsoft's intention here might be to put Fable in better hands. Impossible to say, of course, but Microsoft has shown a desire to keep using older IP. Perhaps Fable Legends is not the direction they're looking for.

It's also quite possible that members of Lionhead will find other positions within Microsoft Studios. We might even see something new in the model of 343 Industries.

I'm interested to see if there is any followup to this.
