Not sure I understand any of the logic behind this.
MS this gen have more AAA exclusives than any gen before.
It doesn't matter if MS choose to spend their money on obtaining a studios Ip with their money, or obtaining there own studio with alot more money.

The reality is we have the best Xbox line up we have ever had exclusive wise. IMO MS have better AAA exclusive games than Sony this gen out or coming out in the following genres. FPS, TPS, Cinematic, RTS, sim racing, arcade racing, 2d platformer, Action adventure, Fighting.

Couple with the fact Sony have twice said they are concentrating less on AAA games on more on small indie titles and to be honest I'm far happier as an Xbox gamer than most of my friends that are PS4 gamers. Most of my PS4 friends aren't fans of indie titles either.

Eh, I often see this taken out of context. The actual statement was -

"We’ve been saying that the number of AAAs might be getting smaller because the cost of development for AAAs is getting higher,” he said. “But there are so many indie games and great games coming out almost every week or every other week. We’re seeing it on PS4. I hope you’re seeing it as well."

That was the 2nd statement. The first just after E3 was more concerning. On an Ign podcast with Yoshida I believe it was. I believe Yoshida was saying this in reply to a question as to why there is a lack of AAA content on PS4. Indie titles are fine if you like them. But as sales of indies show, theres not loads happy with them.

But my original point stands. I know more casual PS4 fans who are unhappy with the exclusives this gen compared to last. And more xbox fans happy with exclusives compared to last.

Guys, we're getting reports from this thread. I advise everyone to exercise civility when making posts. Just a friendly reminder, before things get any worse.

Thanks. If it gets any worse, I'd advise on locking.

That's a shame because your thread was extremely thoughtful and echoed what some of us see and fear, even.  It was a great read and I wish people would discuss it and add to it with their own thoughts rather than the back and forth.  Kudos for saying it because I think criticism, especially considering current direction and recent news, is what a true fan should do.

But what does this have to do with the future of Xbox? A few your friends' (which is anecdotal, anway) dissatisfaction with their PS4s doesn't really negate that there are real fears about what's been happening lately with Xbox.

Because the internet often does illogical fan infused articles when they see x closure, Game y going to pc. etc etc etc.

I'm showing firstly that the Xbox One has more exclusives in more genres of good quality than the Xbox 360. And has alot to still come out this year. We still have E3 and Gamescom to come for MS to show more stuff for 2017 that is exclusive.

Also I know its anecdotal evidence, but its all I have to go off. Bloodbourne is the only title I've been told that's worth it at the moment. They also arent to big a fan of the modern Japanese games.

That's all 100% subjective. In fact in many cases your opinion goes against the predominant view of the game industry, especilly in Third Person Shooter (Uncharted or Last of Us), Sim Racing (Gran Turismo), Cinematic (kinda made up category, but Heavy Rain or Beyond), 2D platformer (LittleBigPlanet), Action Adventure (God of War or Ratchet and Clank or possibly Horizon),  and fighting (Street Fighter).

And, since you're counting the likes of Tomb Raider, there's plenty of timed exclusives that come into play: The Witness, No Man's Sky, Shenmue, Kojima Production's game, etc.

But I'll give you RTS (by default), and Arcade Racer (I guess, not sure what you're referring to here, but PGR hasn't been released in 7 years)

I'm not really worried about the future of Xbox, I just wish they would find a path and stick to it (there's been a ton of restructuring since the Xbox One reveal).

I just wish they would make an exclusive that takes my favorite parts of Mass Effect and Destiny, and add in stronger RPG elements/upgrade trees, and put it into one game...actually I wish anyone would make that game, because I would play the crap out of it!

Your right. But this gen as follows MS wins in the genres with either no answer from Sony or they have released a game but wasnt as good.

This gen

FPS - Halo 5

TPS - Gears Of War 4

Cinematic - Quantum Break

Action adventure - Rise Of The Tomb Raider

Sim Racing - Forza Motorsport 6

Arcade Racing - Forza Horizon 2

Fighting - Killer Instinct

2d Platformer - Orin And the Blind Forest

Certainly if we take right now I don't believe MS loses on any of these. Of course I expect Uncharted 4 to give ROTR a run for that genre. Gran Tourism is only a demo this year so wont touch Forza 6 in the slightest. This is all my opinion of course.

If we use current metacritic scores for these genres on titles already released in the first 2 years the Xbox One wins all these genres quite easily.

So anyway, my point is MS are doing better game wiae than ever in the history of Xbox. We should be celebrating good times for Xbox.
