Forums - Microsoft - Is There Any Reason To Buy an Xbox now?

Has the Xbox Brand Been Devalued?

Yes 212 38.34%

A Little 99 17.90%

No 198 35.80%

The Brand Is Stronger Now 44 7.96%

Total:553

I still have 2 reasons: Sunset Overdrive and Scalebound, if those go to PC then I don't have to buy an Xbox.

So yeah, those are good reasons to get an Xbox instead of playing those games on a PC.  The markets don't bleed into the other too much and I think it will be both a win for Microsoft and the consumer.

My post was a bad one as I was focused on the idea that someone already has a high end PC (focusing on that part of the op), forgetting the fact they might not, if they don't Xbox is a very good choice.

Hmm, pie.

I'm not a PC gamer.
This gen my faveourite titles are : Xbox One/PC only games.
Theres a lot there I couldn't play on a PS4.
If you like Sonys exclusives and also game on a decent PC then Microsoft invites you to Xbox on Windows 10. Where you can come and play Killer Instinct, Quantum Break alongside Xbox console. As 1 big Xbox family.

Its all good.

Its all good in scenario u created, but might be hell in other cases. U dont play on PC, u like MS games and dont like Sony games, so Xbox obviously is the best choice for u.

People with decent PC and PS4 who want to play also MS games, will now abandon the idea to buy X1. Sure, the MS will  sell more games, but console userbase will suffer in the name of it.

Yes if you are a console only gamer which is a big user base. I rather get a xb1 that mess with a PC. PC for me is for work and internet surfing.

Unh? Microsoft are encouraging People who have a decent PC to join the Xbox family. Those you mentioned have 2 choices. Either buy MS exclusives from their Xbox Windows 10 store. Or buy an Xbox Console and buy from the same store. The choice is yours. Microsoft gains either way. And doesnt affect an Xbox console gamer like me at all. In fact Ill likely get to play PC exclusives in the future on my console. Again more choice.

I always buy all consoles so I do feel that the xbone is being devalued a bit. Not enough to buy a gaming PC though. I will do without before I go that frustrating, non physical etc. route. I think Microsoft should finish this gen and fall out. Let's bring someone else in to compete with Nintendo and Sony. NEC is back!

Microsoft gains more games sales, nobody dobts that. The question is the value of Xbox One itself.

Also, I will be glad if some PC exclusives will come to Xbox.

Just to add to my prior comments. I bought a 2TB HD to replace my 500GB on my ps4. Thing is, it has been waiting for me to install it for about 1 week already and it's not because it's difficult to do but time consuming. Just to think that I have to back up my saves before doing the whole procedures makes me feel lazy. Every time I think about it, I keep postponing it. If it takes me a while to install a simple hard drive, I can't imagine I long it will take me to build a gaming PC to play gears of war ultimate on windows.

Sorry for the double post, I tried to edit my prior comments but it didn't work on my job computer.

I have to wonder why people believe that the majority of Console owners have gaming PCs. Its even more interesting if you believe that the Xbox brand has devalued because MS is bringing their games to both platforms. MS gameplan has always been to integrate Windows with a piece of hardware under the TV. If anything, this shows that MS is more committed to the Xbox brand and success then thinking its a failure. Gaming PCs are not suddenly going to appear under the TV for the majority of console players anytime soon. Even for PC gamers this is a very small demographic who have gaming PCs hooked to their TV.

MS clearly understand this and also understand the importance of gaming on PC. So with that in mind, they are looking to capture both markets instead of just the one. MS abandon the PC market under Dom but under Phil it seems he has a much more ambitious plan in mind.

MS does understand that they have lost this gen to Sony in marketshare but that does not mean they cannot compete, keep the Brand profitable and also increase Xbox ecosystem large by incorporating both console and PC. The Xbox console is not going away anytime soon nor will support suddenly dry up. MS still need that device under the TV but MS also wants to further support Win 10 adoption and increase developers support of the Windows Store once both are combined with all of their devices. In the meantime if they get PS4 only console owners to upgrade to Win 10, buy from the windows Store and use whatever XBl like functionality on the PC to play their games, I am sure MS is considering that a win.

The value doesnt change much. Or at all for console only gamers. I dont know any PC gamers that also buy consoles. The only PC gamers I know play WOW. And only WOW. Thats not representitive I know. Just personl observation. Xbox console is changing now as well. Normal console life is changing for Xbox at least. So box will likely be the most powerful console every 3 years upgrades. Like Phones, but instead of yearly. 3 yearly. But thats another thread.
