I think both MS and Sony are trying to achieve the same thing. Turning their brands into game services that are streamed/downloaded to as many devices as possible.

Most will angrily say this will never work but I believe the first to the finish line on this goal will be sitting pretty staring down at their struggling competition.

This streaming to PC from both, psnow and unified Windows store are ultimately in a race to the end result of a branded gaming service useable on as many devices as possible.  Consoles, PC, tvs, tablets, phones, microwaves and toasters.

Except fans of them consoles will say this will never happen. Id be rich if i could count how many times them same fans said something will never happen in the past only for it to then happen.

We have seen time and time again how companys give in to the pressure of the casual masses.

How many times have your fav games been ruined or changed cos it fits with what the masses want??. Yeah the companys where clearly thinking about their fans then.

Fact is Money talks, and if them companys know they can make more money by opening up their services to other devices they are going to do what the masses want.

Its just imo the first one to do it is going to get the biggest piece of the pie if the others leave it too late to join in.

For me its not a think that this is something they might do, as anyone that can see trends can see where gaming is heading. So its just a matter of who will be first and who will be last.

In this hypothetical, all it takes is the ability to count to be rich ;)

Sales wise.

2010 the year it started going bad, 1 vs 100 cancelled, inside xbox cancelled, Halo reach worst halo campaign and multiplayer imo.

Lets not get bogged down in details it was the begging of the slide.

Xbox live from 05 to 08 was brilliant everyone had a mic not many 10 year olds. Also the dashboard was a thing of beauty, now its complicated crap, like a cat trying to get out of a locked shed or a dog with no legs!

EDIT: You know, convience in general is a reason I guess. But then I wonder if anyone woul 'upgrade' ovr and over when the idea of consoles is you don't have to.

The point is that it is easy to upgrade. It literally will be just taking a card out of an slot and placing another one in... you don't have to deal with hardware conflicts, abherrantly expensive GPUs, cooling problems and whatnot since everything will be made to order...

What exactly is soooo complicated in the XBO dashboard?

On the start screen you can instantly see how much of your friends are online and you have access to the friend list, party chat, messages, settings and app docking with a simple tap on the digi-pad:

If you want to go to your favorite games and apps, they are just a button press (RT) away. You can even easily sort your favorites how you like them best:

Another button press (A) and... BAM!... you are in the complete app/games library, by default in the more important games section. It offers also infos about the free space on your hard drive:

If I want to go into the games library (there is no favorite section) of my PS4, I have to scroll all the way to the right through the unsorted mess of last used apps. There is no button to bring me to the game library instantly.

After opening the library, all apps and games are mixed together by default (you can switch to filtered selections afterward). There is no way to mark your favorite apps and/or games as favorites or to sort them:

To check the free HDD space on PS4, you have to go in the settings, it's not shown in the game library.

I also noticed he mentioned "new exclusives"... I can't help but feel that they will turn their "greatest hits" into XONE+PC games and create a cash cow to farm before the XONE receives a batch of original exclusives that will remain exclusive... in other words, they might be growing their repertoire and moving the old timers away from the console to allow newer IPs in...

I read your posts and it seems you have no clue on what you are saying, lol.

snip

So scrolling all the way through the fifteen most recently used apps (which would be what is considered "favorites" since if you go fifteen seperate apps in between playing a game, it's not really a favorite) to the right and looking by alphabetatical order is difficult? And god forbid you have the ability to further sort that by games and non-games. Yeah, folders would be nice, but you word it like it's some kind of massive chore when in reality it's mind-numbingly simple.
