I don't know why everyone keeps asking this questioN. The majority don't own a PC able to run games or even care to game on one. So all those millions of people have a reason.
Also most of those PC gamers already made their choice when one consol was more powerful than the other.

then you are missing so many excellent games exclusives for not liking sony, like the last of us (300+ GOTYs awarded, thus becoming the most award winning game of all time), bloodborne (92+ on metacritic), until dawn, heavy rain, the last guardian, shenmue 3, 90% of anime games, uncharted, infamous, detroit become human, etc |
Sony's offerings don't align with my taste in games.
I hate anime, hate games like Heavy Rain/Until Dawn, hated the Souls games which kind of rules out Bloodborne, thought The Last of Us was deeply overrated, have no interest in The Last Guardian, Infamous, or Shenmue, and I dont place much store in GOTY awards or Metacritic as they have often steered me towards games I did not enjoy or away from games I ended up liking.

There is no need to be snarky. Many people in this thread have raised all conceivable valid reasons someone would still want an Xbox One, there was little point in my repeating them. The very first comment that the OP makes is that Xbox is now a service. Before making the (in my opinion mistaken) assertion that this has devalued the brand. I was attempting to illustrate what Microsoft is intending to achieve, and the impact their success would have on the console landscape. |
Except instead of was the first step toward derailing the conversation into Microsoft vs PlayStation.

Is X1 devalued = yes, as a recent owner and knowing that PC would get most X1 games as well. then why would I buy an X1. my main purpose was to play co-op and play against my younger bro (he is around late 20s).
brings back our bonding together when we were kids with all those FamiCom, PS1 and PC games.
if the X1 exclusives which make them unique would be also in PC gaming then what's with X1 left to offer?
I get the cheap/alternative version as not all gamers have PC at their homes that can play this and that game. but if you think of it, those multi-plats are also available in the PS4. so only a handful would be X1 exclusives which now they have another competition is the PC crowd.

I think both MS and Sony are trying to achieve the same thing. Turning their brands into game services that are streamed/downloaded to as many devices as possible.
Most will angrily say this will never work but I believe the first to the finish line on this goal will be sitting pretty staring down at their struggling competition.
This streaming to PC from both, psnow and unified Windows store are ultimately in a race to the end result of a branded gaming service useable on as many devices as possible. Consoles, PC, tvs, tablets, phones, microwaves and toasters.

Everybody has it's own agenda. I guess I am more traditional gamer, the guy who thinks old fashioned way. I can say I dont like about 80% changes or new features that were made to the console/PC bussines, I dont think the new ideas that are possible in the near future will be something for me, and I can imagine the situation I will simply quit gaming.
Xbox brand is going to be merged, great shame but Xbox peaked around Halo 3 and has been going downhill for awhile. Great news for Nintendo who if they get there shit together could really have ago at getting some market share back.
