Forums - Nintendo - Am I the only Nintendo fan here who's not a huge Pokemon fan?

I'm a Nintendo fan that grew up envying the kids who had the original games. So when I got Red, I ended up playing hours, restarting, play more hours, and then go on to play Yellow, Gold, Crystal, Ruby, Emerald, Pearl, Black, Black 2, Y, the remakes, the spin-offs, and will play the upcoming games. I also still watch the anime (XY&Z is pretty good), read some of the manga, still getting merchandise, but I haven't been into the Trading Card game for years. So yeah....bet you can tell if I'm a fan or not...

But yea, not every franchise is for everyone and that's what makes Nintendo great. You don't have to care about other franchises or Nintendo in general and still care about one particular franchise because they have a lot. It's like saying you don't care about Sony, but like Uncharted or hate Halo, but like Microsoft.

I have never once played a Pokemon game, and don't think I ever will. I'm still a huge fan of Mario, Zelda and Metroid, among other franchises.

I'm a Nintendo fan, and while I was a huge Pokemon fan back during Gens 3-5, the series doesn't make me as excited anymore.

I'll still talk about Pokemon, and I'm definitely getting Pokemon Moon, but the series doesn't make me go crazy hype like it used to.

Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold & Silver is the best Pokémon game ever

After that the series is just so so

I born around the time when Gen II was the rage, and my first exposure to Pokemon was the anime during the Johto arc, and/or, of all things, the Pokemon cereal, which came with a Pichu toy.

I was never able to play a Pokemon game till the release of Pokemon LeafGreen, though, so I pretty much grew up with Gen 3 onwards.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

My answer should be pretty obvious! I'm not sure if I can consider myself a long time fan though, as while I did watch the anime when it first came out, I didn't actually get a Pokemon game until Gen 4 with Pearl version.

I liked the franchise when I was a kid...even though I jumped in kinda late (played Red version in the early 2000s). It was really into it for a while, but dropped it during 3rd gen because I was getting bored, and the games weren't doing much to keep my interest.

Flash-forward 10 years or so later to 6th gen, and I decided to give it another shot. I had a lot more fun this time around...but still only enjoyed it casually. I like to build up a team of interesting looking ones, rather than work on a competitive team. I realize now how much I like how free the game feels, and I'm not locked into picking a select team. Not a difficult game, but I can definitely see the appeal.

Hmm, it depends on what you mean by 'huge fan'. If you mean like buying goods, watching the anime and playing the card games on top of the video games, then I probably am not.

I was a big fan of Pokemon during as a child, but slowly fell off from it probably due to me going to college and just not having as much time as I used to. I still bought and buy them to this day, but time is what keeps me from being more invested in the series.

Never played any Pokemon game. I'm familiar with first gen and watched couple of movies.

I'm a pretty big Nintendo and and a huge rpg fan but pokemon isn't something I get super hyped for. Yeah the series is decent but I'd take a new xenoblade or earthbound over pokemon any day

For me I love Pokemon but dont care much for Nintendo. Mario and Zelda are aight. But if they disappeared I wouldnt care as long as Pokemon kept coming in
