Link to the past was the first Zelda I´ve ever played, it´s impossible not to love it :P

A Link to the Past.

It refined everything the first game set out to do, and features many more memorable moments and tighter design. That start in the heavy rain is very powerful. The first game is a monument in it's own right, but A Link to the Past is just better. Timeless greatness. It's not the best 2D Zelda though, that title easily goes to the brilliance that is Link's Awakening.

Not a huge fan of either of them, but ALttP is much better than the NES game. I just never had much fun with the latter.

A Link To The Past by miles. It's so good in every single way. It has a perfect difficulty, wonderful world, great dungeons (and plenty of them) and you can explore as much as you want, but it doesn't get frustrating because you can always get a hint of what to do next.

But playing The legend of Zelda NES is like when you are born. Once you are old enough they throw you into the world, without any explanation of what you have to do or where you should go, and you start wandering around like a headless chicken like, dude, I need a manual for this, what the hell am I suppossed to do??!! It's so damn cryptic that it's frustrating and depressing. And that's a perfect explanation of how I feel about life and NES Zelda

I may catch flak for this, but I feel like the original NES Zelda is one of those games that stands as a milestone achievement for its time, but has not aged well.

I respect it from an academic point of view, but I just didn't enjoy playing it all that much.
