Forums - Microsoft - XB1 Getting Keyboard And Mouse Support

I just don't understand the giving more people a reason. Most people play games on pc, seem to like using the keyboard and mouse. Most people who are console gamers, prefer controllers, or am i wrong? Now, if the games come out for both PC and X1, most PC people will stick to PC and most console people will stick to console, or am i wrong? I just don't see where adding keyboard and a mouse is going to help draw more people in.

Yes, many of those that play on PC prefer K+M while some prefer controllers. Why shouldn´t the same be possible on home console that are, in reality, custom built PCs?

I would like the option of having K+M in every game, but in games like Halo, the matchmaking should adjust to what type of input that is used so that K+M gamers have their own matches.

Just curious how often to gamers play home console on a desk to justify the use of KB/M?

Funny, I see a lot of "I'd rather do this on PC then" and here I am thinking "with the way XB1 and PC are getting cross support KB+M on XB1 is one more reason for me to not upgrade my PC"

If they games like command and conquer or empire were on a console, I might use it then. Some games might play better with KB/M than a typical console controller.

It's definitely a valid point though.  A lot of people will want multiple consoles but could end up going pc / ps4 and just leave xbox out altogether now

It's only "definitely" when there are people who never planned on getting one.

Let's get a few things clear: People who already or are planning to own an XB1 aren't wasting their money. There are still games to play here. The issue here is that, as a console, it is waning in significance. There becomes only a few scenerios in which XB1 is the right choice for a gamer: Someone whose friends all play on Xbox, someone who likes Microsoft exclusives but doesn't want to play on PC, or someone who is simply an Xbox faithful.

Yet there are people who actually make up these audience, most are casuals and don't really care for graphics or metacritic.

No its definitely a valid option.  Many will want to choose between a console to accompany their pc and this looks less appealing the more time goes by.

I hope fps games don't start using it for the sake of xb1 fans. This will make it impossible for controller players to compete.

I know a good player with a Keyboard and mouse will always be better. But i really dont think its as much of a problem as some people think (Unless their big into it and then they are going to want the best controller for FPS anyways and that is KB+Mouse), Like i know some people who switch to joypad in BO3 on PC and they can still finish in the top in many games.

I just don't think it's fair IMO. It would force people to use KB&M to be competitive and who wants to do that? I left PC gaming because of that reason. My cousin on his PS4 is obsessed with the game and got a 27" monitor and holds his controller in a weird way just to play. Some people really get into it and I just don't think it's cool to add this other layer to the game.

I know nobody cares but why can't TBS and RTS games like civ, human onslaught, Pharoah (not these actual titles but something like them)and the likes make their way to consoles with keyboard/mouse compatibility. They just possess so much grit and no other gaming experience equals the 12 hour marathons on civ 3,4 or 5..... I can't play them anymore because....kids....wife....life have gotten in the way. But if they were convenient and on the TV!! and affordable!! Surely I'm not the only one. Heck I'd even buy an XB1 if it even had one legitimately decent tbs or rts.

It seems like only the worst get ported to a console (looking at you, later red alert games) and with no mouse and keyboard.

How is he not using his money in a wise sense?

What if his "decent" PC churns out money for his family instead of being "wasted" for games?

You know there is no wise situation for everything, just like how it's not wise to buy 25 sports cars and drive only one. SImply put if you spend a lot of money on something and choose to neglect it then I'm sorry but you're just wasting it.

I just think 99% of home console gamers sit on a couch/away from a desk that makes using KB/M kind of mute.  But still great to have this feature (never hurts to have more features), I just don't see many actually using this.

Well price and simplicity is always an edge to game consoles. Unless you're very comfortable with PC you don't want it to be your primary gaming machine. People for most consumers are PC illiterate.

Also lets consider with Xbox you get exclusives and a great library of 3rd party stuff. Its that combo that makes Xbox a good choice for many.
