I never stated that. His economic policies are the reason the US faced a recession (as well as a massive deficit).

Really ? I remember the Black Monday been caused by program trading, not Reagan's tax reforms ...

All things considered I think Reagan was successful in reducing inflation and financially ruining the Soviet Union so I see these things as a plus in my book ...

As for the spending deficit that on both parties equally since it's CONGRESS that controls government budgets, not the president ...

the president can't control inflation.  It's not even possible.  The reason inflation slowed so much is because Paul Volcker kept raising interest rates over and over again breaking the cycle of inflation.  It has NOTHING to do with the president.  The stock market crashing is directly related to that as well, as raising interest rates to 20% severely damages the economy.  If they did that now the economy would completely collapse and the US would default on it's debt.  Tax policy barely even matters in that kind of economic environment.

The soviet union basically bankrupted themselves.

I like Reagan a lot more than most politicians but what you said is just wrong.

So Regan's economic policies didn't have any affect on the recession the US faced in the late 1980s? And why do you think congress had to pull the US into a deficit in the first place?

Can you prove that his policies were an issue ? As for why congress increased the deficit it's because they felt like it ... (I'm serious here!)

As for the Soviet Union, they where already facing economic troubles in the early 70s... and the chernobyl disaster, as well as the crumbling of the union as a whole didn't have an effect? Yes, Regan's speech in Berlin was very touching, but its historical significance is blown way out of proportion...

Yes but Reagan helped speed up the downfall of the Soviet Union since they were pressured enough to increase their defense spending ...

I didn't specifiy that Reagan alone did it or his tax reforms were the cause but it was one of the goals he achieved at the end of his presidency even though most of the credit goes to the fed at the time ...

Its because of him trying to cut taxes for the rich... lets just say it didn't work. So yes, there was a deficit because of his economic policy. And he spead up the fall of the soviet union by what, a few months? The Warsaw pact was already becoming disarrayed by the time he came to office, and the union destroyed themselves. Maybe his speech to unite germany again did help a bit in doing that, but many people already wanted that to happen.

As for increasing defense spending, so what? They had no money anyway. By the late 70s, it was apparent. Their nation was facing shortages for resources, and it was in deep recession.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

The rest of the world can only hope.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

So increasing taxes was the solution to the deficit problem ?!

Welp, I guess this really marks that pro-capitalism is the progressive movement and that government sponsored socialism is the norm ...

Actually they had tons of money. They got by with the oil price hikes. It's just that their military expenditures consumed most of their growth so Reagan maybe thought to take advantage of that instability by out spending them in defence ...

How can Cruz canidate for presidancy if he was actually born in Canada?

Poor Bush never had a chance even if he was the perfect president, simply due to his name.
