I said hardware shifting power. NSMBU was not a strong system seller for Wii U.

games that sell well are storng system seller at well.

Not necessarily, no. If NSMB had strong system selling power, Wii U sales wouldn't have been so utterly abysmal just a few months after its release.

But 2D Mario (or any 2D platform game) in modern gaming definitely isn't huge seller and good choice for key launch title, it has mass appealing but its not system seller, NSMBU was pretty bad choice for Wii U launch.

Wii Sales again:

Zelda Twilight Princess: 7 Mio

Zelda: Skyward Sword: 4 Mio

Mario Galaxy: 11 Mio

Mario Galaxy 2: 7 Mio

All combined (2x 3D Marios + 2x Zelda) = 28 Mio sold units.

New Super Marios Bros Wii alone: 28 Mio sold units.

Mario Kart Wii alone: 35 Mio sold units.

On Wii U:

Mario Kart 8: 6 Mio

Mario Bros U: 5 Mio

Mario 3D World: 4 Mio

Zelda Wind Waker HD: 1,6 Mio

Hyrule Warriors: 1,20 Mio

Like Curl-6 already wrote, we talked about strong system sellers not about sales of games. 2D game is not system seller, NSMBU was pretty bad launch title.

probl the best system seller nintendo has in terms of standart games are 2d Marios, Mario Kart, Smash and Pokemon. Yes.

Zelda would do ALOT worse. Like Skyward Sword. That Game didnt even managed to move wii motion + controllers. How should a Zelda game be able to move consoles?

I just want the damn game. Don't really care how they donit at this point.

In modern age 2D Mario (or any 2D game) can't be serious launch system seller, if 2D Mario like launch system seller is good choice Wii U wouldnt have so terrible sales.

Skyward Sword was not launch game (actually arrived on Wii when Wii already was dead). You already forget that TP moved tons of Wii consoles on Wii launch, core gamers buyed Wii because of TP while casulas buy Wii because of Wii Sports. But nobody wants to buy Wii U to play 2D Mario, Wii U sales number proves that.

Nope. Like I already said so many times..Reason Wii U Failed: Tablet controller wasnt as popular as wiis motion controls.

Nintendos games dont sell many copies, because people arnt as interested in those games. For many, many gamer the competition offers better gamesn (like GTA, Witcher, Fallout, Skyrim) which are all non existent on the wii u.

Your wrong by searching for the reason the wii u failed. It failed because it was a nintendo console. You need to ask for the reason the wii didnt failed, and that was because of the motion controls.

In the past, every nintendo console decreased in sales. From n64 to gamecube to wii u. The wii was the exception, not the wii u.

If nobody wanted to play 2d mario game why did it sell 4x as many copies as twilight princess on Wii?

Some things to back up this:

Youtube Views on Zelda Wii U e3 reveal: 4,7 Mio (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZmxvig1dXE)

Youtube Views on zelda Wii U tech demo: 2,4 Mio (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_fyOkrteqM)

Youtub Views on Zelda Wii U gameplay: 0,8 Mio (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0y4hv62YEw)

Youtube Views on GTA V gameplay: 33 mio (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-xHcvug3WI&oref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DN-xHcvug3WI&has_verified=1)

Youtube Views on Witcher 3 gameplay: 6 Mio (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4ony2r0QFs)

There just isnt a big general interest in zelda games anymore.

Even Just Dance sold more copies on Wii as any Zelda game does.

And even if we assume, that 7mio sales on Twilight princess were all core gamers, thats just nothing. Thats just 7 Mio people vs 40-50mio on ps4.

Youtube views are the weakest way to back your argument they not only hold no ground but have so many flaws in an argument as 1 person can watch the same video 20 times while on another channel someone can watch the same video only twice.

I don't know where you got your 2D platformer is a better launch option argument from because TP on the Wii sold 7.2m a full 2.2m more then what NSMBU has sold in total, 2d platformers sell to the userbase already there they don't really bring in new people to the userbase. TP sold 500k on it's first day with the Wii for reference.

Wii sold better because of one thing that didn't happen with Wii U, it was handled better from launch, marketing, pricing, bundling etc... This speaks volumes when for 2 years people thought Wii U was an add on for the Wii and not a new console

Twilight princess sold 7mio copies on 100mio installed hw base = 7%attachment rate

NSMBU sold 5Mio ond 12 Mio installed hw base = 40%attachment rate.

You really cant be serious if your claiming TP was the better launch title lol. Just compare a 2d mario vs a zelda game on the same plattform.

Youtube views are great to compare general interest in a game. In your argumentation, sales are bad as well. 1 person could buy 20 copies of a game, where another person just buys 1. That argumentation doesnt make even a little bit sense.

You said so many time and you were wrong every time. Tablet controller is just one of reasons why Wii U failed not only reason.

But Nintendo games does sell very many copies, especially if we look instal base.

Wii U failed beacuse it Nintendo console!? Sorry but that is most hilarious thing I ever read.

What do you think, what sales of Wii would be without Wii Sports and Zelda TP like launch titles, without great price point ($250), without great marketing and with software drouth!? Much, much less than actually are. And guess what, Wii U all had opposite, bad launch titles, bad marketing and name, high price, software drouth, not appealing gimmick...all that combine are reasons why Wii U failed so bad, not beacuse its Nintendo console or only beacuse tablet controller.

No one Nintendo console so many mistakes like Wii U. Nintendo made bloody mess with Wii U, they screw it in every possible way they could it, and because of that we having worst selling Nintendo console, not because Nintendo console are in decrease.

Why 2D Mario sold 4x better than TP!? Because NSMB is casual game and Wii was mostly console for casuals, while Zelda TP is core game.

You comparing youtube views of one of most popular game ever (GTA V) that is multi platform and that is on two genes of consoles, with Zelda game that currently exclusive for worst selling Nintendo console ever!?
