Depends on what you mean by god. He's probably as powerful as some of the Greek or Norse gods. He could take on some of the lesser gods in the marvel universe or something. Shulk has powers at the end of the game consistent with the judeochristian god. Like the power to create a universe. |
Fair enough, but Zues had no control of the universe.

Yeah, it's pretty hard to find a pic of Z man.
Kinda off topic but every time i see shulk he knew reminds me of vaan from ff12 XD
After reading all the exposition, I wonder whether some people still genuinely believe end of the game, final form Cloud can beat end of the game, final form Shulk?

Well, Shulk is likely to win as Cloud has to wait for an age for his ATB bar to fill in which time Shulk could get a few attacks in. Of course, he'd probably have Final Attack + Phoenix so the fight could continue for a bit and if he has Knight of the Round then Shulk may well lose.
I'm not going to compare to Shulk's Monado III as that's just silly!

Sephiroth never had control of the universe. If he did, he would have pretty much accomplished whatever he wanted in an instant. The best thing he did was blow up a few planets, but that was more for show than anything. Shulk on the other hand does have control of the universe. If he wants a world without materia, no more materia. If he wants a world without cloud, no more cloud. |
When you can control the fabric of space and time then yes, Sephiroth control the universe. "The Promised Land" Which grants Sephiroth unlimited mako power is pretty much God power. He bestroyed some planets, and cause a Supernova just for show. Now imagine if he was serious. The only reason why he didn't accomplished his goals is because he enjoys tormenting Cloud. His arrogance is his only weakness.
Even if Shulk wanted no more materia or no more Cloud, there is still Aerith supporting Cloud to negate and undo any harm on Cloud. She has proven to do this in the movie Advent Children.

Yeah, I never got this whole "power of a God" thing. Sephiroth at no point has the power of a God. |
Let me help you with that. I gave examples in the post above but I'll do it again. Any being that can create something from nothing and control the frabric of space and time is pretty much God. This is something Safer(Seraph) Sephiroth can do. Cloud fought him and won.
Not only did Cloud beat a being with God powers, he also has more fighting experience, and is a better fighter and magic user overall.
Etymology and symbolism:
The Sephiroth are described in the Kabbalah as the manifestations of God that allow Him to manifest in the physical and metaphysical universes.
Sephiroth is in religion dude

... There's always one person willing to defend their character to the death in spite of all common sense and logic. I admire your devotion.
Do you have any evidence that unlimited Mako gives you the power to control space and time? Can you show an example of Sephiroth doing either?
If Sephiroth can control space and time, why is he summoning meteor again? That seems like a grossly inefficient method of eliminating humanity.
The Supernove was just a fun animation to go with the attack, not to be taken seriously. Unless you can explain how Sephiroth can destroy Pluto three times in the same battle XD.
Are you sure Sephiroth wasn't serious? Cause he seemed REALLY serious at the end of the game.
Now, Shulk on the other hand, actually can control the universe. And he actually shows it by recreating the universe as he sees fit. Can you show Sephiroth doing anything on this level? Not just speculation that he can, but somewhere where he ACTUALLY does it?
Let me just restate that for emphasis. Shulk CREATES A UNIVERSE. Can you show cloud or sephiroth doing anything close to that?
Can you show that Aeries can bring back Cloud from non-existence XD. I'm pretty sure you can't.
