Forums - Nintendo - If NX had a shared library but they were NOT integrated to use together, which of the systems would you buy?

Which NX hardware would you buy?

Home console 43 49.43%

Handheld console 11 12.64%

Both 27 31.03%

Neither 4 4.60%

Basically I'm interested to know if the NX handheld in no way worked with the NX home console (no handheld/controller) but had the same library of games, which would you opt to buy? Would you buy the handheld, the home console, both, neither? Why?

Also, part two of the discussion, do you own a Wii U and 3DS? If so, why did you choose to get both, if not why did you only get the one you do have?

I guess I should answer myself. I would only buy the home console due to the fact there would be no reason to purchase the handheld. I tend to only buy both because they both release games I want.

As for part 2, I own a Wii U and a 3DS. I decided to get the Wii U day 1 because I always buy Nintendo home consoles because it has the games I want. I bought the handheld being that Mega Man Legends 3 was announced... Which pissed me off being they never released it, but was happy with my purchase again when Kingdom Hearts 3D was announced.

I have always prefered handhelds over home consoles, so I would pick handheld. Although it would be nice to have the ability to connect the handheld to the TV. I hope for a bundle version: both handheld, home console, and to attract customers, three brand new NX games from Nintendo and some sort of ambassador bonus.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Would rather not own a handheld but would love to play there games on a home console so home console is my answer, Mainly due to the fact that I would be playing a handheld basically in front of a TV anyway.

Yeah, I am hoping beyond all hope they make the two consoles connect. It would only benifit Nintendo in the end, this was just a theory I had during some forum discussions before and was interested to see how it would actually pan out.

There are a lot of people who do that, so I can understand completely. I do that myself. When I play FE Awakening, I'm typically doing it in my bed winding down to go to sleep.

I own neither a Wii U or 3DS. I have pretty much no interest in Nintendo home console franchises other than Zelda and perhaps Metroid. However, I am interested in some 3DS series, like Fire Emblem, but I don't really like the 3DS hardware very much and I honestly don't want another handheld.

A Nintendo home console that has all of the handheld games would be the option that gets my attention the most. It's probably the main thing Nintendo can do to regain my interest, to be honest.

I'd buy both, but I'm guessing the general market would choose the portable handheld over the console at the same 4:1 ratio we see today with the 3DS vs. Wii U, where 80% of Nintendo's own fan base doesn't purchase the console.

Bought DS and Wii last gen. Played the DS most of the time inside, although I did travel with it a few times.

When this gen started I knew I had less time to play, so decided to concentrate with just the home console. Before the WiiU was announced I thought the Gamepad was going to act as a home handheld, etc. I was kinda expecting the NX filosophy to have happened by now.

I'd only buy the home console for myself, but I might get the handheld for family use. Although that would only be interesting if we get a family account setup were we can share titles between devices and accounts.

At least when talking about Japan then yeah, the handheld is the no brainer in the competition. Also the younger market, so they can take the handheld to school.

Id be disappointed in nintendo..... and I would get 1 of the 2, instead of maybe both.
And... really with how the Wii U went, Im not 100% sold on the NX yet, need to see what games it gets.

Honestly might just get the handheld then.

Leave the heavy gameing for the planned PS4.
