Forums - PC Discussion - Anybody play Europa Universalis?

I always wanted to play that game, but I just don't have the time to get my head around it. Can you recommend any real good tutorials on YouTube or something? I could watch that while going to bed or something. =P

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

Wow, so many here are playing Europa Universalis? Cool!

I wish I was one of them, but I haven't had the time to play because of all the other games that I thought were better. Even though I take pride in being a lover of sophisticated, complex games and loving history...

How long does it take to get into? Say that you never played EU before, how many hours til the addiction kicks in?

Crusader Kings II is the game for me.

Why is that? I have heard others say they prefer CK, but what's the reason in your case?

Is it just accidental, you just happened to get familiar with CK before EU, or is it because you prefer managing kings over countries? Or some other reason.

Depends. I got used to it within 8-10 hours of playtime, but before that I watched countless Let's Plays by shenryrr, Arumba and other YouTubers. Watching tutorials really doesn't help you. You more or less need to develop a feeling for the game mechanics.

Played eu3, started eu4, and i think this taked me over 2week to play well, and over 1 month to learn all subtility.

But eu4 is easy to learn against CK2, i have a friend who could never understand the game :p

Medieval politics is a lot more personal with intrigue and succession crises and stuff. It makes it really exciting.

Also I can play as a pagan and invade the christian kingdoms and change history to my liking :)

I also love that I am able to take captive noblewomen and princesses as my sex slaves :D

I LOVE ICELAND!

From 8 hours to a month. That's what I feared. But this thread is really inspiring because there's so many of you who put hundreds of hours into this game.

Haha.

But isn't religion important in EU too?

Have you put many hours into Crusader Kings 2? And in EU4?

I haven't bought EU yet. But I really want to. What's awesome is that you can convert your CKII game into a EU4 scenario if time runs out.

I LOVE ICELAND!

I tried it just a little bit again, without the tutorial and I didn't understand anything lol

Any of you play with a mod that changes the timeline so that you can start from the Viking age or something? Is it good?

Default starts from the 15th century it seems, and I don't like that time period as much as the Middle ages.
