Shit that's not good.  It's going to keep going down for the next 3 quarters aswell.  On a positive at least software sales for key titles are good.  Splatoon really appealed to the Nintendo faithful buy unfortunately only prevented a decline in Japan.

3DS is in its 5. year on market, so fall of sales is normal. Wii U actually is selling better in first 3 quarters of 2015. than in previous year.

Also this year we will have at least one new Nintendo hardware.

From NeoGaf, I think this is the first time we've seen an official 3DS unit breakdown?

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=194009780&postcount=320

Nintendo 3DS sales breakdown by model (units)

Nintendo 3DS - 26,170,000
Nintendo 3DS XL - 19,590,000
Nintendo 2DS - 4,670,000
New Nintendo 3DS - 1,710,000
New Nintendo 3DS XL - 5,800,000

Total - 57,940,000

Nintendo Wii U sales breakdown by region (units)

Q3 FY 2015

Japan - 430,000 (+34.4% YoY)
The Americas - 900,000 (-10.9% YoY)
Others - 560,000 (-3.4% YoY)

Q1 - Q3 FY 2015

Japan - 750,000 (+53.1% YoY)
The Americas - 1,450,000 (-11.6% YoY)
Others - 870,000 (-3.3% YoY)

Conclusions: The 2DS flopped, and Wii U hardware is down in North America and Europe for the quarter and the fiscal year in North America and Europe but up in Japan largely because of Splatoon. So it seems like it's moving systems in Japan, but not in NA/Europe so much. The smaller New 3DS also has fairly modest sales.

The Americas in particular seem to be losing interest in the Wii U faster than other markets give those YoY percentage drops.

The 2DS flopped? I don't really think so. It sold enough units to those people that either were only interested in one game or were looking for a cheap console to their kids. If anything, the N3DS has flopped, they could have only released the XL model and profited from less costs and the bigger price of the XL version.n

Yep! For what it is, and for who it was aimed for, those sales are pretty good!

I'm aware of that.  NX launching is going to be all good though.  Once it's announced all current hardware will decline even more and if it releases and doesn't take off Nintendo are in a much worse position than when they launched the 3DS.

Overall the results are just what's to be expected.  No major increase or decrease.

Yes, but this time they will have Amiibos and mobile games to back them up. Also despite bad current hardware sale they making good profit, around $330m for first 9 monts.

What's the point of making a thread and not updating it? Same happened with Sony thread. People who create such threads should me more careful.

Damn right!   This never happens in the MS financials thread (or the Sony one when I did that).

When people make these threads just to get the points and don't care to update and really contribute we end up with these things. Yep on financial threads you were always participative and organized.
