So the 8th gen certainly hasn't been my favourite one. When I played through the 7th gen, there where classics that would always bring me back! Call of Duty 4, Halo 3, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Uncharted 1, Assassins Creed, Super Mario Galaxy, Fallout 3, and many more! This gen, the only game I'd consider a true classic would be The Witcher 3! And I get it, maybe they'll age better with time... but we're already 3 years in! And it isn't just that, the amount of disappointment for games that we saw huge amount of hype for is massive. We've seen graphical downgrade's, content that's been stripped out, microtransactions getting introduced, games that are 1/2 baked, awful frame rate's that remind me of the 6th gen, and just a generation I see as disappointing.

Every generation I've played through (6th and 7th) has had plenty of classics. This one, I just can't list any really good canidate's for that. There are few games I want I'm going to want to go back to and play in 5 years. I mean the 7th gen really felt like the 2nd coming almost, with so many great games coming to market. Obviously the 7th gen was longer than usual, but it still was probably one of the best ever. This one seems like a totally disappointing compared to it, and while we've seen some good games, in my opinion, quality has gone way down compared to what we saw last gen. Now I do hope 2016 and 2017 proves otherwise, but I'm starting to have doubts...

I like it a lot. Its one of the better ones. I actually hated Gen 7 the most x.x

Those negatives you mentioned are from the 7th gen but I honestly like the content from this generation a lot more ...

7th gen was a big disappointment on my side ...

I've played plenty of 8th gen games. In fact, over 15k GS from the XB1 alone.

Next gen I'm sure the same thing will be said. "Ahh, the Xbone one was way better than the Xbop three" or whatever.(I'm copyrighting Xbop Three).

Every gen has its ups and downs. The only time you can say a generation has been completely horrid was when anyone could make a game(i.e before Nintendo's seal of magic came). However, we're far away from that. Gaming is way too big to simply be listed as a disappointment.

How about a list ?

I wouldn't say disappointed, this gen has been just okay-ish. But this year is about to change it with amazing exclusives all around (especially on PS4), finally a good amount of great third party games and the possible release of NX.

I have really enjoyed this gen so far. It was off to a slow start, but it has picked up in 2015 and this year looks even better. I enjoyed DA:I despite its flaws, and Bloodborne was incredible. Both Wolfenstein's were good fun as well. My backlog is really full right now as well and includes The Witcher 3, Tamriel Unlimited, Telltale games, etc.
