Totally agree, Nintendo would aimed handheld and home console market in same time, not to mention basically one launch with two devices so no need totally separate launch with handheld and totally separate for home console.

| UncleScrooge said: The article you quote does not say Nintendo will release the handheld first. It simply cites sources that expect Nintendo will order displays for handheld units in 2016. Maybe the WSJ article says something different but I can't read that in full. The article you quoted does not indicate the home console will come later. |
Basically, they have infos (screen orders) on which they assuming NX handheld will come this year, they dont have info about NX home console, so that doesnt mean home console will not be launched this year.

1 launch with 2 devices could also seriously cut the amount of advertising costs with one campaign or be advertising two devices at a time over a longer period rather than advertising each device seperatly.

And at end customers will only choice if the want more affordable device (handheld) or more expensive (home console). It's basically win-win situation for Nintendo.

You wrote "not NX handheld", but it is NX handheld.
"Research firm IHS has shared their expectation that Nintendo NX will launch in 2016, and that the “dedicated game platform” will include a standalone portable game system."
"While Hayase declined to specify which size of display Nintendo NX is likely to use"
This board is going to explode when NX is officially announced, like some of us have been saying Nintendo confirming NX existing was a calculated move as it generates attention and has been with out them needing to do anything. Their investors meeting is coming up soon I'm going to bet some kind of information will come out from that and it's going to add even more fuel to the fire.

Standalone = it's own thing = not a part of anything, making it ridiculous to call it "NX handheld".
Nintendo is taking the same approach as Splatoon to keep people interested. They are slowly elevating their system to superstar status before it is even unveiled by letting little bits of information out every day or two to keep people glued to the interwebs trying to learn more so they can share it with the gaming community. It's actually a pretty ingenious strategy, people like a little mystery and it keeps them involved. Splatoon did essentially the same thing by releasing new weapons and maps every few weeks to keep people coming back. This could be the most interest in Nintendo we have ever seen.

Its very clear they refer to it like part of NX. That is written even in handline. You don't see even most obvious things.
