Forums - Gaming Discussion - Battlefront Current Online player count stats (shocking)

pc gaming in general is dead. Just check the sales here on vg chartz. You cant pirate online games like battlefront, so they player count will always be super low.

While I agree piracy is a huge problem on PC, its still a viable platform. Which is why more and more console games have been going to PC. In many cases, titles can do better on PC than consoles. It often depends on the audience a genre appeals to.

For the record, the PC version is at 8.5K right now. Over 3x higher than the OP.

Those are respectable numbers for a platform with a million different online games.

it goes both directions though. many pc games are now on consoles (eg witcher 3)

No in my OP I included the 24 hour peak because I knew I was looking at an off peak time and the peak was higher than that.

Yeah, of course it does. Witcher 1 was really designed to be played on a PC. But since action style RPG started to become big on consoles, appealing to that audience became a focus to the Witcher developers.

Blizzard brought Diablo III to consoles and its fantastic. Arguably the best way to play that game. However, that style of game clearly doesn't appeal to console gamers as much.

Bottom line, you were wrong. You said "pc gaming in general is dead." That's clearly not the case.

Yeah i wanted to say "PC gaming in terms of modern aaa titles is dead".

Games like COD; Battlefront and more have super low player counts compared to consoles and pc sales are very low compared to consoles.

I already heard many pc player saying they wont get games like the division anymore because they fear dead server in just some month.

There are currently more player on black ops 2 for wii u as on pc. On Wii U!

Yeah Puggsly you are right in terms of PC gaming as a whole is doing great but these AAA blockbusters all seem to crash and burn on the platform.

As JNK said, more Wii U players on BO2 than PC. Something has seriously gone wrong.

I hear ya, but that's not entirely true. Making AAA single player focused games exclusives for PC is generally a boondoggle. Which is why that's rare.

For many AAA games, they make their money on home consoles. However, many AAA games can still fairly well on PC. Well enough to justify bringing those games to PC. Hence, for those games PC is just an extra stream of revenue whether they sell 500K, a million, or whatever.

I'm gonna take a guess and say Wii U only has like three active online shooters. Ghosts, BO2, and Splatoon. That's why those games have maintained a farily active userbase on Wii U, they have nothing else. PC players on the otherhand have countless other games to play if they get bored of CoD.

another small statistic that proves what I mean when I say most PC gamers are more interested in how well they can run a game than actually playing it. Or maybe they just pirate the hell outta games.

Strange contradiction there. willing to spend thousands on a rig, not willing to spend $60 to buy a game. That's like buying a Ferrari and not being able to afford gas.

AAA games don't crash and burn on PC, they just can't make a profit solely on PC. Hence, they are profitable ports on PC. Studios just can't rely solely on PC.

I'll repeat what I said to JNK in regards to CoD population on Wii U vs PC. Wii U owners have very few options when it comes to shooters, so those few games stay fairly active. When PC players are bored of CoD, they have countless other online games to play.
